REE.OLUT1.0N NO.~ RESOLUTION OF INTENTION TO PARTICIPATE IN FORMING A COOPERATIVE LIBRARY SYSTEM WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Redwood City has here- tofore approved by Resolution No. 4469, adopted November 23, 1964, the formation of a cooperative library system in San Mateo County: and WHEREAS, there has been presented to this Council a plan of service for the "Peninsula Library Systerd'which supersedes the plan of service heretofore approved by Resolution No. 4469; and WHEREAS, this Council desires to approve the plan of ser- vice for the "Peninsula Library System"; NOW, THEREFORE; BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, AS FOLLOWS: 1. This Council hereby approves in principle the plan of service for the IIpeninsula Library system,lI which plan is on file in the office of the City Librarian, to which reference is hereby made for the particulars thereof. 2. This Council approves of the organization of the co- operative system by a Joint Exercise of Powers Agreement as provided by Section 6500, et seq., of the Government Code sub- ject to the following conditions: (a) The terms of any agreement shall be subject to full and complete review by this Council and this resolution shall not be construed to obligate the City to execute such agreement. (b) Any agreement prepared shall expressly provide that the City shall retain full, complete and exclusive control over any and all materials selected for the city's library, and over the management and the personnel in the City's library. (c) The agreement shall provide that the City shall incur no financial obligations and that the expense of establishing the cooperative system shall be borne by the establishment and/or per capita grants from the State of California.
