i <br /> CGM:ye: 2/9/73 <br /> FEB 12, 73 <br /> RESOLUTION N O. 6872 <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION URGING THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES <br /> TO RECONSIDER THE FEDERAL FUNDING MORATORIUM ON CERTAIN <br /> COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT AND ALL SUBSIDIZED HOUSING PROGRAMS <br /> AND REQUESTING THE CONGRESS OF THE UNITED STATES TO ENACT <br /> SPECIAL REVENUE SHARING PROGRAMS IF FEDERAL FUNDING IS <br /> NOT REINSTITUTED FOR SAID COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT AND <br /> SUBSIDIZED HOUSING PROGRAMS <br /> WHEREAS, our Nation faces critical housing and urban problems, <br /> the solution to which demands community development programs and <br /> increased housing units for low and moderate income families; and <br /> WHEREAS, Federal funding for such community development and <br /> housing unit programs is required if such programs are to be <br /> realized; and <br /> WHEREAS, the President of the United States has instituted <br /> a moratorium on Federal funding for community development and all <br /> subsidized housing programs; and <br /> WHEREAS, the serious effect of such moratorium will be that <br /> the City of Redwood City will not have the funding necessary to <br /> carry out community development programs and housing unit programs <br /> for low and moderate income families which were previously funded <br /> by the Department of Housing and Urban Development; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Congress of the United States has the authority <br /> to institute special revenue sharing programs for the purpose of <br /> funding community development and subsidized housing programs; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE; <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, <br /> AS FOLLOWS: <br /> That the President of the United States is hereby requested <br /> to reconsider the Federal funding moratorium on certain community <br /> development and all subsidized housing programs and to reinstitute <br /> Federal funding for these vitally needed programs. <br />
