07/09/2012 <br /> ORIGINAL <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 15203 <br /> RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD <br /> CITY AUTHORIZING THE CIVIC CULTURAL COMMISSION TO AWARD <br /> SMALL GRANTS DURING FISCAL YEAR 2012-13 IN A TOTAL <br /> AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $6,000.00 <br /> WHEREAS, the general objective of the Redwood City Civic Cultural <br /> Commission ("Commission") is to encourage, foster, facilitate, establish, and maintain <br /> programs for the recognition of matters of cultural significance in the City; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council appropriates funds to the Commission annually, <br /> which the Commission customarily grants to non-profit organizations in the community <br /> that support art and cultural activities; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Commission's Fiscal Year 2012-13 budget is $58,896.00, most <br /> or all of which the Commission plans to give in the form of grant funding; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Commission invites potential recipients of small grants, <br /> generally in amounts of $1000.00 or less, to apply to the Commission during the course <br /> of the Fiscal Year for such grants, which are often timed around a certain event and/or <br /> seasonal in nature; and <br /> WHEREAS, the authority to approve small grants and report back to the City <br /> Council annually at the end of the fiscal year will allow the Commission to distribute <br /> small grants in a timely manner. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of <br /> Redwood City as follows: <br /> Section 1. The City Council hereby authorizes the Civic Cultural Commission to <br /> award small grants during the course of Fiscal Year 2012-13, in a total amount not to <br /> exceed $6,000.00. The Council further directs the staff liaison for the Civic Cultural <br /> Commission to report to Council on the disposition of small grants at the end of Fiscal <br /> Year 2012-13. <br /> Section 2. The City Council authorizes and directs the City Manager to approve <br /> expenditures and take other actions necessary to effectuate the foregoing. <br /> Section 3.
