09/10/2012 <br /> ORIGINAL <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 15214 <br /> A RESOLUTION AMENDING THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY'S <br /> CLASSIFICATION PLAN AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO <br /> EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT TO INCORPORATE CHANGES TO THE <br /> CURRENT MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN THE <br /> CITY OF REDWOOD CITY AND THE POLICE SERGEANTS <br /> ASSOCIATION <br /> WHEREAS, the Police Chief has previously presented a conceptual plan to <br /> restructure the Police Department in order to better align the department's resources <br /> with the needs of the community and strategic goals of the City; and <br /> WHEREAS, based on that plan the City Council approved the creation of a <br /> Police Lieutenant Classification on July 9, 2012; and <br /> WHEREAS, the proposed new structure requires the creation of a new Deputy <br /> Police Chief classification; and <br /> WHEREAS, the creation of the Police Lieutenant and Deputy Police Chief <br /> classifications requires a revision to the existing Police Captain Classification; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Deputy Police Chief classification was prepared by Human <br /> Resources to ensure it meets the foreseeable needs of the organization; and <br /> WHEREAS, the revised classification of Police Captain was prepared by Human <br /> Resources to ensure it meets the foreseeable needs of the organization; and <br /> WHEREAS, the establishment of the Police Lieutenant classification requires <br /> creation of a two-tier salary structure in order to realign salaries for Police Sergeants <br /> and Police Lieutenants in the future; and <br /> WHEREAS, the proposed modifications require an amendment to the existing <br /> Memorandum of Understanding; and <br /> ATTY/RES0.2277/ESTABLISH.DEP.POLICE CHIEF&CHANGES POLICE CAP.JOB DESCRIPT.
