ORAL COMMUNICATIONS
A. Terry Anderlini, 619 Marlin Court, Redwood City, asked the Council to set aside an area
in Redwood Shores where dog owners could take their pets. He asked Council to amend
the City Ordinance prohibiting dogs in City Parks and make a temporary exception that
would allow a portion of the 3.8 acre Marine Park, on the corner of Bridge Parkway and
Marine Parkway, currently being used as a dump site for dredging soils, to be designated
as a recreation area for dogs and their owners. Mr. Anderlini said he had petitions with
300 signatures in support of this concept, and advised that these supporters would raise the
$5,000 to $10,000 necessary to construct this facility.
Mayor Hartnett acknowledged the letters the Council had received ITom many residents
throughout the City in support of a recreation area for dogs. He explained the process by
which the Council considers these types of citizen requests, and said the first step was a
recommendation ITom the Park and Recreation Commission.
Mayor Hartnett said he would contact the Chair of the Park and Recreation Commission
to find out the status of this request, and then get in touch with Mr. Anderlini and discuss
the matter at a later date.
MEMO 4/15/97
MINUTE BOOK NO. 55
Page No. 250
