— <br /> mIN DES:yc :2/3/78 <br /> ORIGINAL <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 7995 <br /> FEB 6 1978 <br /> RESOLUTION URGING PUBLIC UTILITIES COMMISSION OF CITY <br /> AND COUNTY OF SAN FRANCISCO TO RESCIND INCREASE IN WATER <br /> SALES RATES OCCASIONED BY WATER SHORTAGE EMERGENCY <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to contract with the City and County of <br /> San Francisco, this City purchases and receives water for use of <br /> the citizens of the City of Redwood City; and <br /> WHEREAS, as a result of increases of water sales rates enacted <br /> by the City and County of San Francisco for the purpose of conserving <br /> water during the water shortage emergency declared by reason of the <br /> prevailing drought conditions of 1976-77 , this Council likewise <br /> enacted water rate increases imposed upon this City' s water users; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Public Utilities Commission of the City and County <br /> of San Francisco has publicly announced the end of the drought <br /> conditions affecting said City and County' s water supply, and <br /> therefore the water supply of this City, and said Commission has <br /> declared an end to the water shortage emergency; and <br /> WHEREAS, the end of said water shortage emergency ends the <br /> justification for the increase in water sales rates imposed by <br /> reason thereof; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE; <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, <br /> AS FOLLOWS: <br /> 1. The Public Utilities Commission of the City and County of <br /> San Francisco is hereby urged and requested to reduce its water <br /> sales rates as said rates pertain to sales of water to the City of <br /> Redwood City, in an amount equal to the increase of said rates <br /> enacted for water conservation purposes as a result of the prior <br /> water shortage emergency. <br /> 2. The City Clerk is hereby authorized and direct to transmit <br /> a certified copy of this resolution to the Public Utilities Commission <br /> of the City and County of San Francisco. <br /> 7995 <br />
