— mIN DES:yc :2/3/78 ORIGINAL RESOLUTION NO. 7995 FEB 6 1978 RESOLUTION URGING PUBLIC UTILITIES COMMISSION OF CITY AND COUNTY OF SAN FRANCISCO TO RESCIND INCREASE IN WATER SALES RATES OCCASIONED BY WATER SHORTAGE EMERGENCY WHEREAS, pursuant to contract with the City and County of San Francisco, this City purchases and receives water for use of the citizens of the City of Redwood City; and WHEREAS, as a result of increases of water sales rates enacted by the City and County of San Francisco for the purpose of conserving water during the water shortage emergency declared by reason of the prevailing drought conditions of 1976-77 , this Council likewise enacted water rate increases imposed upon this City' s water users; and WHEREAS, the Public Utilities Commission of the City and County of San Francisco has publicly announced the end of the drought conditions affecting said City and County' s water supply, and therefore the water supply of this City, and said Commission has declared an end to the water shortage emergency; and WHEREAS, the end of said water shortage emergency ends the justification for the increase in water sales rates imposed by reason thereof; NOW, THEREFORE; BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, AS FOLLOWS: 1. The Public Utilities Commission of the City and County of San Francisco is hereby urged and requested to reduce its water sales rates as said rates pertain to sales of water to the City of Redwood City, in an amount equal to the increase of said rates enacted for water conservation purposes as a result of the prior water shortage emergency. 2. The City Clerk is hereby authorized and direct to transmit a certified copy of this resolution to the Public Utilities Commission of the City and County of San Francisco. 7995
