DES:djk 1/15/95 (035/9) o RIG I N A L 12/11/95 o R DIN A N C E NO. 2103 --------- ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 40.7 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, RELATING TO HISTORIC PRESERVATION THE COUNCIL OF REDWOOD CITY DOES ORDAIN, AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. Section 40.7 of the Redwood City Code is hereby amended to read as follows: "Section 40.7. Historic Designation Procedures. Historic landmarks, historic sites, and historic districts shall be established by the City Council in the following manner: "(a) Any person may request the designation of an improvement as a historic landmark or the designation of a historic site or historic district by submitting an application for such designation to the Planning Commission. The Committee, the Commission or City Council may also initiate such proceedings on their own motion. "(b) The Commission shall refer each proposed designation to the Committee. The Committee shall conduct a study of the proposed designation and, based on such documentation as it may require, make a written recommendation to the Commission as to the appropriateness of the request for such designation. "(c) Upon receipt of the written recommendation of the Committee, the Commission shall make a preliminary determination as to its appropriateness for further consideration. If the Commission determines that the application merits consideration, it shall schedule a public hearing. "(d) The Commission shall file its decision in writing with the Planning Director and the Building Official. If the Commission decides not to hold a hearing, the Planning Director shall mail notice of such decision to the applicant.
