DAL:dft ] rt/ 0 7 / 9 0 R (025/8) o RIG I N A L 2/11/91 ORDINANCE NO. 2034 --------- AN ORDINANCE AWARDING A NON-EXCLUSIVE FRANCHISE TO CONSTRUCT, OPERATE AND MAINTAIN A CABLE TELEVISION SYSTEM WITHIN THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY TO TCI CABLE VIS ION OF CALIFORNIA, INC. ; ESTABLISHING CERTAIN CONDITIONS THEREFOR; AND REPEALING ORDINANCE NO. 1906 AND ALL OTHER ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH WHEREAS, the City of Redwood City is a member of the Joint Powers Authority known as the "San Mateo Cable Television Authority ( "SAMCAT" ) ; and WHEREAS, SAMCAT has recommended the adoption by its member agencies of a uniform franchise agreement; and WHEREAS, the City of Redwood City has adopted a Cablevision Television regulatory and enabling ordinance to conform with the uniform franchise agreement recommended by SAMCAT; and WHEREAS, this City's current cable television franchisee, TCI Cablevision of California, Inc. ( "TC I ") , the parent company of and the successor in interest to, Nationwide Cablevision, Inc. ; dba peninsula Cable Television Corporation, has agreed to rescind the franchise agreement granted to it pursuant to Ordinance No. 1906, adopted December 17, 1984, by this Council; and WHEREAS, this Council finds that entering into the proposed franchise agreement with TCI would be in the best interests of the citizens of the City of Redwood City and that the current agreement should be superseded and replaced thereby; and WHEREAS, Section 15 of the Charter of the City of Redwood City provides that franchises shall be granted by ordinance;
