<br /> DES:djk 0~/16/90 (038/7) <br /> OHfGINAL DES:djk /23/90R <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 2016 MAY 07 1990 <br /> --------- <br />ORDINANCE REPEALING ARTICLE V OF CHAPTER 32 OF THE CODE <br />OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY AND ADDING ARTICLE V <br />(COMMENCING WITH SECTION 32.101) TO THE CODE OF THE <br />CITY OF REDWOOD CITY RELATING TO BUSINESS LICENSE TAXES <br />THE COUNCIL OF REDWOOD CITY DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: <br />SECTION l. Article V (conunencing with Section 32.101), <br />entitled "Business Licenses", of Chapter 32 of the Code of the <br />City of Redwood City is hereby repealed. <br />SECTION 2. Article V (conunencing with Section 32.101) is <br />hereby added to the Code of the City of Redwood City to read as <br />follows: <br /> "ARTICLE V. BUSINESS LICENSES <br /> "DIVISION 1. PURPOSE AND DEFINITIONS <br /> "Section 32.10l. Purpose of Article. The purpose of <br />this article is to provide for the establishment and levying <br />of license taxes for the transaction and carrying on of <br />certain businesses, trades, professions, callings, and <br />occupations in the City of Redwood City. This article is <br />enacted solely to raise revenues for municipal purposes, and <br />is not intended for regulation." <br /> "Section 32.102 Definitions. As used in this article, <br />the following definitions shall apply: <br /> " (a) 'Applicant' means an applicant for a business tax <br />license pursuant to this article, including a renewal <br />thereof. <br /> " (b) 'Average number of persons employed' means the <br />number of employees, as herein defined, employed monthly <br /> ._<_..-- <br />
