<br /> DF.S:djk 9/18/87 (#06) <br /> OCT 1 2 1997 <br /> ORDINANCE NO. 1960 <br /> ORiG' NAL <br /> --------- <br /> ORDINANCE APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF <br /> FRANCHISE AGREEMENT WITH BROWNING-FERRIS INDUSTRIES OF <br /> CALIFORNIA, INC. FOR SOLID WASTE COLLECTION SERVICES <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Redwood City and the San Mateo County <br />Scavenger Company, a subsidiary of Browning-Ferris Industries, <br />entered into an agreement dated July 30, 1979 pursuant to which <br />said Company was granted the exclusive license, contract, right <br />and privilege to collect and dispose of all garbage, rubbish and <br />waste matter as therein defined; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City and said Company entered into an amendment <br />to said agreement dated August 28, 1980; and <br /> WHEREAS, said agreement and amendment thereto are currently <br />in effect; and <br /> WHEREAS, the South Bayside Transfer Station Authority <br />(" Authori ty") a public entity formed by agreement in 1981 under <br />the California Joint Exercise of Powers Act (Govt. C. §§6500 et <br />seq. ) has prepared, on behalf of its member agencies (including <br />the City of Redwood City) a Uniform Franchise Agreement with <br />Browning-Ferris Industries of California, Inc. ( "Company") , <br />successor to the above-described Company; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Authority has submitted the Uniform Franchise <br />Agreement to its member agencies with a recommendation for <br />approval; and <br /> WHEREAS, upon execution by the City and Company, the Uniform <br />Franchise Agreement will supersede and replace (except as to the <br /> 1960 <br /> ._-~.<, <br />
