ORDINANCE NO. 18 6 0 <br />CGM:djg-c 5/27/82 <br />CGM:djg-c 6/7/82R <br />JUN 14 1982 <br />ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 2.63, 2.65, 2.'68, 2.72, <br />AND 2.77 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br />RELATING TO PURCHASING PROVISIONS OF THE CITY OF <br />REDWOOD CITY <br />THE COUNCIL OF REDWOOD CITY DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: <br />SECTION 1. Section 2.63 of the Code of the City of Redwood <br />City is hereby amended to read as follows: <br />"Section 2.63. <br />(a) All materials, equipment, and supplies costing <br />more than ten thousand dollars shall be purchased in <br />the open market on the basis of competitive bidding <br />in accordance with the provisions of this article. <br />(b) Any public work or improvement costing more than <br />ten thousand dollars shall be contracted for in ac- <br />cordance with section 67 of the Charter unless such <br />work or improvement is performed by a department <br />authorized to execute such work or improvement <br />directly as provided in section 67 or unless the <br />work is performed as provided in section 68 of the <br />Charter. The procedure pertaining to the purchase <br />of materials, equipment and supplies having an <br />estimated cost in excess of ten thousand dollars <br />shall be followed in the award of contracts for <br />public works and improvements wherever applicable." <br />SECTION 2. Section 2.65 of the Code of the City of Redwood <br />City is hereby amended to read as follows: <br />"Section 2.65. <br />The city manager shall solicit written bids without <br />public advertisement for every contract for any public <br />work or improvement, and every contract for the purch- <br />ase of materials, equipment or supplies, the estimated <br />cost of which is over ten thousand dollars but less <br />than twenty thousand dollars. Such solicitation shall <br />be written, and shall be sent to not less than three <br />(3) prospective bidders; provided, however, that where <br />less than three (3) prospective bidders are known by <br />the manager to exist, he shall send such solicitations <br />to all those so known to him. <br />The city manager shall cause public notice inviting <br />bids to be published at least once in a newspaper <br />of general circulation in the city at least five <br />
