Ce11:m� Ji/21/8i R <br />DES:dig-c <br />ORIGINAL <br />O R D I N A N C E N 0. 2 NOV 23 1981 <br />ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 9.118 OF, AND ADDING <br />SECTION 9.119 TO, ARTICLE IX OF CHAPTER 9 OF THE <br />CODE OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, RELATING TO <br />DISCONNECTING UNGROUNDED CONDUCTORS AND PENALTY <br />PROVISIONS, RESPECTIVELY <br />THIS COUNCIL OF REDWOOD CITY DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: <br />SECTION 1. Section 9.118 of the Code of the City of Redwood <br />City is hereby amended to read as follows: <br />"Section 9.118 Section 230-76 of the Electrical Code is <br />hereby amended to read as follows: <br />"'Section 230-76. The disconnecting means for <br />undergrounded conductors shall consist of either <br />(1) a manually operable switch or circuit breaker <br />equipped with a handle or other suitable operating <br />means, or (2) a power -operated switch or circuit <br />breaker; provided the switch or circuit breaker <br />can be opened by hand in the event of a power <br />supply failure, or (3) a shunt trip push button <br />device to operate the main switch or circuit breaker. <br />The shunt trip push button device shall only be <br />installed (a) where the main disconnects are within <br />10 feet of a direct line to an outside man door, or <br />(b) when required by the Electrical Inspector or <br />Fire Marshal.'" <br />SECTION 2. Section 9.119 is hereby added to the Code of the <br />City of Redwood City to read as follows: <br />"Section 9.119 (a) It shall be unlawful for any person to do <br />or cause to be done, any electrical work, or to use or maintain <br />or keep, or cause to be used, or maintained, or kept, any electrical <br />system contrary to or in violation of any provision of this article, <br />or of any Code provision as adopted by this article, or any <br />amendment thereto as adopted by this article, or contrary to, or <br />1852 <br />
