Chairma~Alberson <br />presided in the absence of CMi~n Ross. . pro tern <br />The following were present I Commissioners Alberson, Spinas, <br />Balzarini, Morton, Scales, Poole, and Carlson. City Manager Blom was <br />also present. Absent members were: Ross, Baume, Case, and Bogie. <br /> <br />ì~. Morton reported on the results of the 4th of July Rodeoarrl <br />said that the Rodeo Cammittee asked if there were any needs for the City <br />Recreation that they might finance.- It was agreed to purchase a larger <br />kiln for use of the pottery classes, said kiln to cost $500. The motion <br />that such a purchase be presented to the Çity Council was made by <br />Commissioner Scales and seconded by Commissioner roole. <br /> <br />There was some discussion concernin~ immediate action on a definite <br />u <br /> <br />program for the Community Center area, and it was suggested that a hard <br />ball diamond and swimming pool be planned for use in 1947. Mr. Blom <br />added that the di~ond could be started any time as Council had appro- <br />priated ftmds for use in 1947, but that Government regulations pro- <br />hi bi ted the build ing of a swinnntng pool for another year or so. It was <br />the unanimous decision of the members present that plans be made as <br />soon as possible for the construction of the hard ball diamond for use <br />I)ext Spring. <br /> <br />Mr. Mott presented further plans for the park system and special <br />emphasis was 111lde on the Veterans t Park and the one at Chestnllt Street. <br />It was agreed that little be done at Veterans' Park until the building <br />there is not required for Veterans' use and can be torn down. At Chestn'~ <br />Street the Com~issioners felt the lot across the spur track be planned <br />for residential use and concentrate on the area already in use with the <br />pqssìble addition of an adjoining piece of property in order to have <br />all the play area in one spot and eliminate the possibility of accidents <br />with children crossing the tracks from one area to another.
