Butler was read requesting sufric,ien~t <br />land for the co.nstruction, of a Nat1,onal" Guard Armory'. Captain <br />B,rooke Hals,ey and Mr. Butler" w~re pres'eat to answer questions. <br />Commise1.oner Baume moved that we recommend to the C1t:r CouncU <br />that two acres: an:à no more tham t.wo acres. be dee~,ed! to the <br />State of Call.to m,la !'or the purpose o~f' constructting a National <br />Guard ArrIlory in aœ:Qordance with 1Er. Butler's letter. with the <br />provision. that construction start not later than eight months <br />f'roa the t1m,e the property is deeded. and' tIt the 'ewent that <br />c.onstructl.on i-a not started w.i.thin', the speQtfled~ time. the <br />property¡ shall be returned to the al ty of Redwocñ 01 ty. <br />The motion was seconded and carried. <br /> <br />Letters trom ~ity Clerk Ralph Dodge were read relative <br />to the d-edicat1oI1l of the new C.ommuni ty Canter E,u11dlng. ancff <br />to holdi1ng a contest for a suitable name for the Park. <br />Mr. Grariger haa offered a $25.00 War Bond' as a prize. <br /> <br />Comm1seione Baume moveåwe request the Grand Oft-i cere of ~', <br />the Native Sons of tM ~lden'eet to ~edlcate t~ bulldm! <br />onl June 13.1948. The motion was second"ed and carriet!. <br /> <br />~~lssloner &gle moved we accept Mr. Grenger'e <br />suggestion t'or a crontest to name the Park,. The mot1om was <br />secODaed and e:arrlec!. Mr. Bogie, Mr. Case. and Mr. Spinae <br />were named to serve as a contest co~~ittee. <br /> <br /> <br />C:oJlmissioner B:og1e moved- we approve a reeommen.datton;. <br />by Director Morton to transfer i100.00 f~om salaries to a <br />fund for the purchase of trophies tor drill teams wb1oh are <br />scheduled to appear at the dedication.
