A letter from E. 1. Butler was read requesting sufric,ien~t land for the co.nstruction, of a Nat1,onal" Guard Armory'. Captain B,rooke Hals,ey and Mr. Butler" w~re pres'eat to answer questions. Commise1.oner Baume moved that we recommend to the C1t:r CouncU that two acres: an:à no more tham t.wo acres. be dee~,ed! to the State of Call.to m,la !'or the purpose o~f' constructting a National Guard ArrIlory in aœ:Qordance with 1Er. Butler's letter. with the provision. that construction start not later than eight months f'roa the t1m,e the property is deeded. and' tIt the 'ewent that c.onstructl.on i-a not started w.i.thin', the speQtfled~ time. the property¡ shall be returned to the al ty of Redwocñ 01 ty. The motion was seconded and carried. Letters trom ~ity Clerk Ralph Dodge were read relative to the d-edicat1oI1l of the new C.ommuni ty Canter E,u11dlng. ancff to holdi1ng a contest for a suitable name for the Park. Mr. Grariger haa offered a $25.00 War Bond' as a prize. Comm1seione Baume moveåwe request the Grand Oft-i cere of ~', the Native Sons of tM ~lden'eet to ~edlcate t~ bulldm! onl June 13.1948. The motion was second"ed and carriet!. ~~lssloner &gle moved we accept Mr. Grenger'e suggestion t'or a crontest to name the Park,. The mot1om was secODaed and e:arrlec!. Mr. Bogie, Mr. Case. and Mr. Spinae were named to serve as a contest co~~ittee. C:oJlmissioner B:og1e moved- we approve a reeommen.datton;. by Director Morton to transfer i100.00 f~om salaries to a fund for the purchase of trophies tor drill teams wb1oh are scheduled to appear at the dedication. The motion was seconded and car!1ed.
