Those present <br />were Comrn.issioners Katherine Brennan, E]~ouise Campbell, Irving Gold, <br />William Hanley, and Fred Hector; Superintendent of Parks Pasco <br />Balzarini, and Superintendent of Recreation Alfred Morton. Commis- <br />sioner Ralph Case noted absent. . <br /> <br />Minutes of the previous meeting were read, corrections noted, and accepted <br />as corrected. <br /> <br />Letter from the Northeast Redwood City Community Association a~dressed <br />to the City Council was read, s~e being referred to the CÅ“mission. <br />Mr. Ray H. Guseman, President, appeared to present the Association's <br />case for purchase of site on "G" Street for park purposes. <br /> <br />Mr. W.E. Ronan, representing the ßI Camino Improvement Club was <br />asked by ChaimM Stout for the latter organization"s views on the <br />"~ Str~et pa~. Mr. honm stated ~at the area in ~stioo did not <br />affect the residents but that this group WB.S in favor of improving <br />Mezes Plaza Park. <br /> <br />Mr. Richard Weber, vice president of the Northeast Redwood City <br />Improvement Club, rose to endorse the "G" Street park acquisition. <br /> <br />Mr. Hartvig Helgoe, 245 "G" Street, explained the feelings of <br />the group protesting the plan to acquire the site in question. The <br />letter prepared by this group and presented to the City Council was <br />read. It was sig~ed by thirty-seven residents of the neighborhood. <br /> <br />At 9:00 P.M. Superintendent of Recreation Morton asked permissio. <br />to leave the meeting. Permission not granted pending subjects requir- <br />ing his presence. <br /> <br />MR. LEN TORNELL, \lliSTWOOD TERRACE IMPHOV~1ENT CLUB, asked who was to do <br />the finish grading and complete park at Westwood and Briarfield Sts. <br />Commissioner Gold informed him that Mr. Mel Moen of the Engineering <br />Department and Superintendent of Parks Balzarini were cooperating on <br />the job. Motion, seconded, and passed by Commissioners Gold and <br />. Campbell to refer the matter back to the Park Committee of the Counci <br />, Agenda. <br /> <br />A LETTER OF JUNE 23 \VAS R~AD I~lROti THE SAil 11ATEO COUriTY RECREATIOli COMMISw <br />SIO~l addressed to the Ci ty CoW1cil, subject Co~rote Point. Chairman <br />Stout reported on his discussion on the subject in conference with <br />Representative Younger during his recent visit to Washington, D.C.and <br />vicinity. The Park and Recreation Commission letter of JQ~e 22 to <br />the Council having covered the subject, no further action believed <br />necessary. Copies of the letter of ~e 22 were to be sent to Rep. <br />Younger by Chairman Stout. Motion, seconded, and passed by Commis- <br />sioners Hector and Gold that the letter be filed. <br /> <br />Motion, seconded, and carried by C~issioners Gold and Hanley <br />that the Secreatary forward copies of the letter of June 22, which <br />states the Commission's stand on Coyote Pointt be forwarded to all <br />.recreation commissions of the County. <br /> <br />COMMISSIONER CAl\~PBELL REPORTED OI'J PU'BLICITY. Mary Jo Ginnan of the San - <br />Mateo Times was cited for her excellent cooperation.
