<br /> <br />REDvVOOD Crrry PARI( Al'ID RECREATI or~ COrJ!\lI SSION <br />REGULAR ~1EETING, FEBRU'ARY 2, 1955 <br /> <br /> <br />The regular meet1 ng of the Park and Recreation Commis sian was called <br />to order by Chaiman Gold at 8:00 p.m. Present: Catherine ,Brennan, <br />Louise Tornell,_Gerry Verssen, Alyn Beals, William Hanley, Maurice <br />S~tz, Irving Gold, Pasco Balzuini ~d Al~ed Morton. <br /> <br />MSC' by Gerry Verssen and Al~n Beals that the.~minutes of the January <br />~ meeting be ~proved as mailed. <br /> <br />i <br />A letter wa~ recieved from Mrs. Helen M. Karaz, withdrawing her <br />objections to the flying of model airple.nes at Communi ty Park. Mrs. <br />Karaz and a group of neighbors had appeared before the commission <br />several monthe ago, complaining about the no! 8'e by the planes. <br /> <br />A copy of 8 letter from City Clerk Dodge to M.D. McCarl, Port Manager, <br />was rec'ived, regarding the proposed fish grooto and the area to be <br />assigned to the Yatch Harbor. <br /> <br />Commissioner Gerry Verssen recommended that all inforMation and the <br />commission's findings regarding the request by the Widow's, Inc. for <br />city property be forwarded to the city council for their action. MSC <br />by Gerry Verssen and Catherine Bren~an that this item be removed <br />from the agenda. <br /> <br />Park Superintendent Balzarini reported that the work of securing the <br />nR.me sand addres se s of de s cendents and those "he have plots in Uni an <br />Cementary has not been completed. <br /> <br />Chairman Irving Gold advised that the additional meetings have been <br />held regarding the HawesPark switch. Current negotiations include the <br />city sellinß five acres of land at Hawes Park and the c'ity securing <br />maximum leases on equivalent property at Goodwin and Hoover schools. <br />The money realized fr~ the sale of property at H~es to be used for <br />1.and ac'quisi tion.
