<br />'11S <br /> <br />REDWOOD CITY PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br />REGULAR MEETING MAY 4,1955 <br /> <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Park and Recreation Commission was called <br />to order by ~al~n Irvl~ Gold at ~:OO p.m. hesent: Ca~r~ <br />Brennan, Louise Tornell, Gerry Verssen, William Hanley, Maurice <br />Schutz, Alyn Beals, IrUng ~old, Pasco Balzarini and Alfred Morton. <br />Also present Administrative Assistant Orrin Wendling. <br /> <br />MSC Al¡n Beals and Maurice ~hutz that the minutes of ~e meeting of <br />April 6 be approved as mailed. . <br /> <br />Correspondence from ParentS'. Association for Retarded Children of Ian <br />Mateo County; copy of a letter from E.A. Rolison to G.J. Davis; San <br />Francisco Water Company; E.A. Rolison regarding tree master plan. <br /> <br />MSC Maurice Schutz and Willi~ Hanley that the c~isslon rec~end to <br />the city council that the use of paid umpires for the Highlanders Little <br />League be allmwed. If the collections are sufficient, it is recommended <br />that an adjustment be made at the end of the season by the Little League <br />to help defray the cost of the ~pires to the city. <br /> <br />Correspondence received from the Parents Association for Retarded Children <br />of San Mateo County, requesting permission to form a swimming instruction <br />progræm for retarded children, during the weeks from August 29 to <br />September 9. The commission felt that the mentally retarded children <br />of Redwood City should have the first opportunity to sign up for this <br />program and the remaining vacancies be filled in by' others in the county. <br />MSC Gerry Verssen B.nd CR,therine Brennan that the Commission report <br />favorably to the city council for their consideration that a program <br />for instruction be scheduled, according to Mr. Morton's time and help. <br /> <br />Letter received from City manager Rolison, advising that the San Francisco <br />Water Department has promised totake care of the condition existing at <br />its pipe line crossing in C~oo1ty Park with in the next few days. <br /> <br />, . <br /> <br />~a1man Irving ûold reported that Co~ciman Floyd Granger Is awaiting <br />replies to letters sent out to those directly concerned with persons <br />buried in Union Cemetary. <br /> <br />Chairman Gold also advised that talks on the Hawes Park switch are <br />continuing. <br /> <br />, '. <br /> <br />I'; <br />[1:\- <br />;{ , <br />}, <br />" ' <br />\ <br /> <br />Commissioner Verssen reported that a meeting had ùeen held with the Yacht - <br />Harbor co~ittee of the ci~y council, City Manager Rolison, mr. Hilton, <br />of Sequoia Yacht Clllb or Alfred Morton and Himself. Various plans for the ': <br />locat&ng of the recreation area at Yacht Harbor were discussed. <br /> <br /> <br />Chairman Gold advised that the Wgr Memorial Building committee is in the <br />process of asking for bids. <br />
