<br />f" ~ <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />,:" <br />(" ' <br />¡J. <br />~, . <br />~, . <br />\,: <br />, L <br />:, <br />1 <br /> <br />,119 <br /> <br />REDWOOD CITY PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br />REGULAR MEETING JUNE 1,1955 <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Park and Recreation Commission was called <br />to order by chairman Irving Gold at 8 :00 ,p.m. Present: Catherine <br />Brennan, Louise Tornen, Gerry Verssen, ~i111~ Hanley, Maurice Schutz, <br />A1yn Beals, Irving Gold, Pasco Balzarini and Alfred Morton. <br /> <br />MSC Catherine Brennan add Alyn Beals that the minutes of the May 4 <br />meeting be approved as mailed. . <br /> <br />Mr. De Rosa, representing the Class A softball league, appeared before <br />the C~~ission asking for amplification of existing rules, regarding time <br />limits of softball games for the Class A Division. . <br />MSC Maurice Schutz and Catherine Brennan that a letter be written to <br />the City Council, recommending that the A Division softball teams, playing <br />Thursday and Saturday nights be allowed to comp¡ete seven innings of <br />play. In the case of a tie game, they shall be allowed only one inning <br />to break the tie. <br /> <br />Memos were received fr~ city clerk Dogge advising than: 1. The City <br />Council approved the Park and Recreation Commission recommendatimn <br />allowing Highlanders Little League to make collections at their softball <br />games, and 2. The City Council approved the Park and Recreation <br />Commission recommendation offering summer swimming to retarded children. <br /> <br />Park Superintendent Balzarini adv1sed(~th8t the San Francisco Water Co. <br />is currently working on the project to correct the hazard at Community <br />Park. <br /> <br />CHairman Gold reported continuing progress on Union Cemetary. <br /> <br />MSC William Hanley and Maurice Schutz to reaffirm the Park and Recreation <br />C~issionts original stand in.urging that Hawes Park be sold and monies <br />derived from the sale be used to complete C.ammunity Park. <br /> <br />The Park Committee of the Park and Recreation Commission was asked to <br />contact Councilman Carl Britschgi of the Council Yacht Harbor Committee <br />and arrange for a meeting prior to June 18. <br /> <br />Chairman Gold reported that the maps for the War Memorial Duilding will <br />b.e completed in two weeks and that the War Memorial Cornmi ttee hopes to <br />put the building out for bids. <br /> <br />MSC Wllli~ Hanley and Ma~ice Schutz that a letter be written to the <br />city manager asking that the tree master plan be turned over to Pasco <br />Balzarini and that he be given proper assistance to complete this job. <br />Gerry Verssen voted nol <br /> <br />C~issioner Hanley reported progress on the investigation by the city <br />council regarding the purchase of the B~ird property. <br /> <br />
