<br />151 <br /> <br /> <br />REDWOOD CITY PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br />REGULAR MEETING, JANUARY 4, 1956 <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Park and Recreation Co~ssion was called to <br />order January 4 at 8 P.M. by Chairman Irving Gold. Present: Catherine <br />Brennan, Louise Tornell, Gerry Verssen, Maurice Schutz, Alyn Beals, <br />Irving Gold, Pasco Balzarini and Alfred Morton. Noted absent: Willi~ <br />Hanley. <br /> <br />Commissioner Maurice Schutz asked that the matter of the Park Department <br />identification badges be held in abeyance until the next budget and <br />asked that the December 7 rndnutes be ~ended to read as much. MSC <br />Gerry Verssen and Maurice Schutz that the minutes of December 7 be <br />approved as mailed. <br /> <br />Chairman Gold announced that the next meeting of the Park and Recrea- <br />tion' Commisslon will be February 8. <br /> <br />A letter was received from the Y.M.C.A. regarding the landlocked area <br />adj acent to the Y .M.C .A. Future plans for streets in t his area are <br />to be investigated by the Commission before recommendations will be <br />made. <br /> <br />A letter was read from the City Manager regarding the covering of the <br />Hawes Park bleachers. Mr. Rolison advised that the cost would be from <br />$2.50 to $3.00 per squ~e foot. <br /> <br />Alfred Morton reported no further progress on the Co~~unity Park <br />lighting. <br /> <br />Chairman Gold reported continued progress at Yacht Harbor. <br /> <br />Commissioner Louise Tornell reported that she had met with Mayor Herk- <br />ner on the Park and Recreation Foundation and that he advised that he <br />would arrange a meeting with the City Attorney and a council study <br />meeting. <br /> <br /> <br />Baird property item to be carried on the agenda. <br /> <br />Commissioner Alyn Beals reported that the City Manager wrote to the <br />State Highway Commission on November 30 regarding tree planting on <br />El Camino between Whipple and Brewster. <br /> <br />.. <br /> <br />Commissioner Maurice Schutz reported that he had discussed the Farm <br />Hills recreational area with Mr. Frahm and Mr. Peletz of Oddstad <br />Homes. They advised that they considered continuing Stulsaft Park <br />further up the hill and also possible kiddiesl play lot. These <br />matters to be discussed further. <br /> <br />Chairman Gold responded that a meeting with city officials and land- <br />scape architects will be held soon to discuss the Stulsaft master <br />plan. <br /> <br />
