The regular meeting of the Park and Recreation Commission was called to order by Chairman James Knecht at 8:05 p,m. in the Conference Room rl the Veterans Memorial Building. c- On roll call'the following were present Chaim~ J~es Knecht, Co~issioners; Catherine BreMan, ~ouise Torœl1, Maurice Sc~z, A1~ Beals and Ray WMY. Noted ~sent was C~issioner Wally Harder. Also, present were staff mem'eers Red Morton, recreation director and PascoBalz~ini, park superimendem. Artoor I~an, Clifton Woodh~s Sr., Hobert Parsons and Ferris Miles of the Veterans Memorial Commission were present to discuss the Rose Garden and Parking lot in the rear of the Veterans Memorial Building. This di scussion was to ttake place after the Meeting~adjourned. M. S. C. that the minutes of May 4.1960 be approved as mailed. ... . Art Eskelin of th.e engineering department was present to report on the signs. He have a ful report on what had been done up to the present time. M. S. C. that a letter be written to t he City Manager to thank him for having arthur Eskelin at our meeting and that we except his report on the sign~ with regrets and would like to recommend that suitable action be taken w 1.th the City Collncil te have directional signs to the park areas. ~ Chairman Knecht read the incoming correspondence. .., In Commissioners Harder I s absence Red I~orteri had nothing to report on the Yacht Harbor he added t hat we are waiting to he ar from the St ate'. Report on Stulsaft Park made by Pasco Balzariniwas that the four foot bridge has been put in at Stulsaft along with the water lines. - " . I Commissioner Brennan reported the flower show was a big success and that possible it cotlld~b e an annual event. Fa.sco Balzarini was a magnificent. help through, the whole show. , In agreement of all commissioners. that a letter be written to~ Catherine Brennan thanking her and all the clubs that participated in the Flower Show. ~ p ... Commissioner Beals reported that the tubs for the trees where being put along Broadway tonight and the trees would be planted tomorrow. Commissioner Schutz brough the subject ~p of the parking a rea for the Little Lea~e Field at the end of M~tle Street. After dis- cussion by the commissioners it was M, S.
