<br /> <br />2i2 <br /> <br />RED\YOOD CITY PARK AND RECREATION <br />COMMISSION <br />September 7,1960 <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Park and Recreation Commission was <br />called to order by Chaiman Jmes ~echt at 8:00 p.m. in tœ <br />Conference Room of the Veterans 11emorial Building. <br /> <br />On roll call the following were present, Chairman James Knecht, <br />Commissioners'; Maurice Schutz, Catherine Brennan, Wally Harder, <br />Louise Tornell, A,lyn Beals. Noted absent was Ray Lunny. A,lso <br />present. were Red Morton and Wm. Shewry. <br /> <br /> <br />Chairman Knecht read a letter from the National Order of the Cooties <br />along with Red Morton's reply to the letter. After discussion by <br />the Commissioners it was agreed that a letter be written to the <br />City Council stating that the commission did not want to assign the <br />field at this time due to the adverse feeling of the downtown <br />merchants and that the City Council make the final decision. <br /> <br />Commissioner Harder had nothing to report on the harbor. Red <br />Morton reported that he had spoke with the City Manager on this <br />subject. Mr. Morton said he would like to see a committee formed <br />~to help work on the problems of the harbor such as, Wally Harder, ~ <br />John Machenhauser and Sidney Herkner. <br /> <br />Commissioner Schutz referred to Bill Shewry for a report on Stulsaft <br />Park. The poison oak is gradually being controlled in the park. <br />The rain is liable to wash the access road out this winter. <br />Commissioner Schutz also, asked about the status of Circle Park. <br />Nothing can be done until the Park Dept. gets a water truck. <br /> <br />... <br /> <br /> <br />Fun After Fifty - Commissioner Brennan had nothing to report. <br /> <br />The question of Recreation for out of High School groups was brought <br />up. The Police Youth League is working on organizing weekly dances <br />to be.held in the Veterans Memorial Building. Red Morton is to <br />, follow this up. ~ <br /> <br />," <br /> <br /> <br />The question whether or not the Women's Softball Tournament should <br />be held here next year was discussed. Balzarini,. Harder and Knecht <br />are to discuss this subject and bring an answer back at the next meeting. <br /> <br />;- <br /> <br />It was agreed by the members of the commission that a letter be <br />written to the City.Manager requesting an investigation to be made <br />to provide the ~Park Dept. with use of a truck to carry water to <br />Stulsaft Park and the other parks that do not have water. <br /> <br />9:40 p.m. <br /> <br />~ Respectfully submitted, <br />Ray Lunny, Se cretary <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />L........~-~.
