<br />-2¡f. <br /> <br />REDWOOD CITY PARK AND RECREATION <br />COWflISSION <br />FEBRUARY 1, 1961 <br /> <br />The regular meeting ø¡f thePa'rk and Recreation Comrnission was called <br />to order by Chai~M J~es ~echt at 8:00 P.M. in the Conference Ro~ <br />of the Veterans Memorial Building. . <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />On roll call the following were present, Chairman James Knecht,. <br />Commissioners: Catherine Brennan, Jim Slobodian, Maury Schutz, <br />Wally Harder, Louise Tornell~ Alyn Beals. Also present w~re staff <br />members,~Red Morton and Pasco Bal~arini. <br /> <br />M S C Balzarini and Brennan that the minutes of the JMuary 4 ~~t- <br />ing be corrected to read the "Rose and Flower" show, rather than Rose <br />show' as written. Correction made, minutes approved. <br /> <br />Personal Appearance: Chief of Police, WID. Faulstich explained the <br />functions and ideas of the Police Youth. Club so as to clarify any. <br />. ideas that may have been misleading. He explained that these groups <br />were very successful in the East and that the basic idea was ang is <br />for youth that need attention in being steered i~ the right direction. <br />He explained that any recreational activity needs financia'l help. <br />Many of his men give free time in carrying out t~is program and they <br />raise money from bowling tournaments, etc. The City Council was ask- <br />ed for financial help and the money that was al+o~ed them has not been <br />touched. Help from private citizens also helped in putting this pro- <br /> <br />" <br /> <br />gram across, but the whole idea of the function is not getting into <br />the recreation business and commented that he land Red Morton had good <br />will and understánding between them. As far as a new building is <br />concerned he feels Senior Citizens come first a'nd in all sincerity <br />wants to keep the relationship as is. <br /> <br />... <br /> <br />Personal Appearance: John Shaw, Builder, showed the committee a map <br />eocplaining development of a new area in which he.offered a parcel of <br />h~ to ~e city (çpr~. ~ a~es). ^ ~ ~d pÆvioosly tafud to t~ <br />Planning commission on this and they referred him to the Park and Rec- <br />reation' Commission. After explaining his proposal, M S C by Beals' <br />and Schutz that the Park and Recreation~Connnission recommend to City <br />Manager Neal that the city accept Parcel D on preliminary map to be <br />used as park and recreation use in conjunction with Sequoia Reservoir. <br />property, it being understood that developer will level area and place <br />comfort stations on same. About <br />50 ~~ers of this gro~ are goi~ to take a trip to Honolulu, Hawaii <br />in April.
