<br />~. <br /> <br />246 <br /> <br />REDWOOD CITY FARK AND RECREATION <br />COMMISSION <br />MARCH 1,1961 <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Park and Recreation Commission .as called <br />to order by Chairman James Knecht at 8:00. P.M. i~ the Conference Room <br />of the Veterans Memorial Building. ~ <br /> <br />On roll call the following were present: Chairman James Knecht~ Alyn <br />Beals, James Slobodian, Wallace Harder, Louise Tornel1, Catherine <br />Brennan - noted absent was Maurice Schutz. Staff members present were <br /> <br />. , <br /> <br />Red Morton, entering late were Pasco Balzarini and 1m. Shewry. & <br /> <br /> <br />M S C Tornel1 and Beals that the minutes of the February meeting be <br />~cepted as ~l1ed. Beals ~en as~d that paragrçh, be mended to <br />read, "this land be accepted for use as park and recreation in con- <br />junction with Sequoia Reservoir property in compliance to city spec- <br />ifications that developer level area, provide utilities, acce8s~road <br />and comfort stations". It was also asked that a letter be written <br />te Ci ty Manager i'n regard to same. ~ <br /> <br />It WAS asked that a letter be written to City Manager asking thàt <br />every effort should be made to provide funds to -Park Department for <br />the maintenance and renovation needed for the softball and baseball <br />diamonds. <br /> <br />Commissioner Beals asked that a letter be written to City Manager <br />inquiring what action had been taken on the request for beâutiti- <br />cation of Whipple Avenue. He, Mr. Beals, reported that tubs will <br />be put in on Main Street in April or May. <br /> <br /> <br />" <br /> <br />M S C that tank at Mezes Park be removed and the Commission asked <br />that I letter bewritten to City Manager on this with the suggestion <br />that the American Legion may have use for this tank. <br /> <br />A special committee was næmed to further study the recreation needs <br />in Friendly Acres Area, motion made, seconded and carried that James <br />Slobodian act as Cha1~an with Louise Tornell and Alyn Beals on the <br />committee and Red Morton as adviser. <br /> <br />It was asked that a copy of Schutz' letter regarding Veterans <br />Memorial Building added area, be sent to each commissioner again. <br /> <br />The new officers of the Commission taking office next month are; <br /> <br />Wallace Harder - Chairman <br />Alyn Beals - Vice-Chairman <br />James Slobodian - Secretary <br /> <br /> <br />No further business meeting adjourned 9:30 P.M. <br /> <br />--------.--.. -"_.' . - ---,~_.._......., ". . --.- _._._----_.__..,.._----_._~_._~-_._------_._------ ..---~-_.._----_. ._--_._------_._-~~-- <br /> <br />-'_.---------;'-------------~- ,. -~-- ,- ._-~_._~ <br /> <br />-------,.- ._.._~ -.- <br /> <br /> <br />~ . <br /> <br />. <br />
