ON <br />MAY 3, 1961 <br /> <br />'" <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Park and Recreation Commission was called <br />to order by Chai~an Wallace Harder at 8:00 p.m. in the Conference <br />Room of the Veterans Memorial Building. <br /> <br /> <br />'" <br /> <br />Following Commissioners were present: Chairman Wallace Harder, James <br />'Slobodian, Louise Tornell, Alyn Beals. Noted absent were: Jæmes <br />Knecht, Maurice Schutz and Catherine Brenn8l1. Staff members p.resent <br />were: Red Morton, Pasco Balzarini, wffi. She wry, entering later was <br />Don Dimitratos. . <br /> <br />M S C Beals and Tornell that the minutes of AprilS meeting be. <br />approved as mailed. <br /> <br />Letter from City Manager Neal was read, there~will be a comb1ned* <br />re~lar and joint meeting ñth City Council June 8, at 7:30 P.M. in <br />the Conference Room of the Veterans Memorial Building. <br /> <br />Slobodian asked that recreation needs in Friendly Acres area be put <br />on the agenda for the joint meeting. <br /> <br />The Commission reco~~ended that a letter be written to City Council <br />~ asking them to adopt the proposed rates submitt~d by the Redwood City <br />Municipal Marina Committee at their April 20 meeting. <br /> <br />Commissioner Beals asked that a letter be written to City~Manager <br />in regard to beautification of ~fuipple Avenue reco~mending that if <br />no action has been taken that the Council re-activate the Tree <br />Committee to carryon with this project. <br /> <br />". <br /> <br /> <br />Louise Tornall reported on Fun After '50 Club stating that after <br />July 1, they will begin a group that will meet in the evening in <br />the Redwood Room in order to take care of some of the overflow, <br />. me~ership being over 500. 110 ~mbers recently ret~ned fr~ <br />a vacation in Hawaii. <br /> <br /> <br />Balzarini reported the Rose and Flower Show was a huge success. <br />He als a reported that the summer camp aJrea and oak trees have been <br />sprayed for poison oak and th~t Ban Franklin had been seeded and he <br />is now working on John Gill. <br /> <br />Little leagues - Red reported everything is WJrking out well, all <br />little leagues will be taken care of this year.
