<br /> <br />¡ <br />: <br />. <br />;". <br />:: <br />~:; <br /> <br /> <br />REDWOOD CITY PARK AND RECREATION <br />COMMISSION <br />SEPI'EMBER 6, 1961 <br /> <br />253 <br /> <br /> <br />Regular meeting of the Park and Recreation Commission was called to <br />order by Chai~ hllace Harder at 8:00 p.m. in tM Co~erence Room <br />of the Veterans Memorial Building. <br /> <br />The following Commissioners were present: Maurice Schutz, Alyn Beals, <br />James Slobodian, Louise Ternell. staff members present were, Alfred. <br />Morton, Pasco Balzarini and William Shewry. . <br /> <br />M S C by Jæmes Slobodian and Maurice Schuta that the minutes of July <br />5, 1961 ~eting be approved as printed. <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />Chairman Harder read a letter to the Commission from Radio Station <br />KSFO in regard to the free advertising they gave the Police and~Fire ~ <br />Departments of Redwood City's Softball game in July. The Courtesy <br />billing amÐ~ted to $330.00 for the 15 aMo~ce~nts. ~airmm <br />Harder asked that a letter of thanks be sent them. . <br /> <br />Commissioner Beals read a letter from~a local citizen complaining <br />about the children mis-using the small parks that do not have super- <br />vision - after discussion, it was understood that it is neither a <br />problem of the park or recreation departments. The Commission ask- <br />ed Pasco Balzarini to bring in a list of parks and areas where this <br />problem exists and then the Commission will recommend to the City <br />Manager that this be worked out through the Police Department. . <br /> <br />M- S C by Beals and SChutz that a letter be written the City <br />Manager in regard to price on lighting for night watering, since this was <br />approved by the City Council the Commission would like to know what <br />is holding up this project. They feel now is the time to work on <br />this so it will be ready for use before spring. <br /> <br />Commissioner Beals recommended that a letter be written the City <br />Manager asking the Steno-clerk for the Veterans Memorial Building <br />keep monthly charts showing usage of rooms so that the t~end of <br />non-u~age will give us better knowledge for booking of S~nior Citizens. <br /> <br />On the recreation facilities in the Friendly Acres Area, Commissioner <br />Slobodian reported that he is still investigating. <br /> <br />In regard to the San Francisco Water Dept., Pasco Balzarini states <br />the pipes in question have been repaired. Commissioner Schutz will <br />check further with the City Manager. . <br /> <br />Pasco Balzarini and William Shewry presented a map shawing planting <br />plans of Circle Park, M S C Slobodian and Schutz map be submitted <br />as presented, Chairman Harder signed the printed subject and asked <br />Pasco Balzarini to gat Mr. Garfen's signature on same. <br /> <br />Commissioner Beals said the fishing dock at Yacht Harbor is in the <br />stages of being out on bids. <br /> <br />Commissioner Beals asked the secretary to check the records to find <br />out when the commissioners terms expire, a copy of sæme will be avail- <br />able at the next meeting. <br /> <br />Commissioner Beals recommended that a letter be written to the City <br />
