<br />Regular meeting of the Park and Recreation Commission was called to order
<br />by Al~ Beals at 8 p.m. in the Conference Ro~ of Veterans Memorial Bldg.
<br />
<br />Following Commissioners were present: Alyn~B~als, Jim Knecht, Maurice
<br />Schutz, Catherine Brennan, Stan Sugarman and Jim Slobodian. Absent: Louise
<br />~~ Tornell. Staff ~embers present: Red Mor~on, Don Dimitratos, and Pasco
<br />Balzarini.

<br />Minutes of April 4, 1962 ~eting ~re approved as mailed.

<br />PERSONAL APPEARANCE: Mr. Bert Werder and Quentin Clark.

<br />. Mr. Werder appeared in behalf of Fun After Fifty Club. He stated that 'from
<br />260 to 270 members are active and the present membership is around the 500
<br />~mark. Mr. Werder's purpose was to get the Commissioners impression and
<br />their recommendation for outside activity for the Club. Some of the items
<br />suggeste,d by ~Mr. Werder were shuffle board, horseshoes and boccie ball to
<br />encourage more men to join the cl~b. This type of outdoor activity will give
<br />~ them something to do together. The Commission was in sympathy wi th ~~r..
<br />Werder and that a recommendation will be coming tþom this Commission after
<br />a meeting with the_city manager. '

<br />Mr. Qu~~tin Clark appeared in behalf of Model Plane Flying Club. Mr. Clark
<br />requested that the Commiss~on consider a permanent.site for model plan, fly-
<br />ing. He stated that the club has a very large membership and they hope to
<br />,bring t~e flying contest here to Redwood City. The Commission will look
<br />into the matter and see what can be done to help them out.

<br />Lette~ from the City Manager informing.the Commission of the property deeds
<br />have been recoeded. The property to complete Circel Park or Dove Beeger
<br />Park as it is ROW known, was donated by Walter and ~aydell Huggins and
<br />Rose and Rose Pa~line Hopkins.
<br />
<br />The Commission was informed that the chart of meetings held~at the Veterans
<br />Memorial Building are be;ng kept.

<br />Catherine Brennan stated that Rose and Flower Show was a very big success
<br />and that the ~ole affair was well planned. There were over 400 varities
<br />of roses, beside all the other arrangements. Aroood 4000 people attended
<br />the show. Catherine congratulated Pasco Balzarini on a fine job he did in
<br />the layout and for putting on such a fine show.

<br />The Friendly Acres Recreation Cammittee did not have a report, but that
<br />they would meet very shortly and have one ready for the ~e 6 ~eting.

<br />A letter be sent City Manager requesting Master Plan of Community Park be
<br />s~mitted to this Co~ission for the J~e 6 meeting prior to presentation
<br />to and approval by the City Council. '
<br />
<br />A letter to City Manager:' Parks and Recreation Commission would like to
<br />recommend to the City that in the event the PCAProperty on Veterans Blvd.
<br />'and Bayshore Freeway is acquired for Parks and Recreation, that some con-
<br />sideration be given to the construction of a short 9 hole municipal golf
<br />
