<br />PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br /> <br />MINUTES OF WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 27,1997 <br /> <br />COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chairperson Truscelli, Commissioners <br />Davis, Hughes, Morton, Nordness, Slusser, <br />and Swope <br /> <br />COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: <br /> <br />None <br /> <br />GUESTS PRESENT: Vince Truscelli, Pete Hughes, Stacy Stunes, Donna <br />Habeeb, Susie Peyton, Elizabeth Neves, Gail Leone, <br />Ann Marquino <br /> <br />STAFF PRESENT: Superintendent Gary Hover, Manager Mike Gibbons, <br />Secretary Denise Monroe <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Park and Recreation Commission was called to order <br />by Chairperson Pauline Truscelli at 7:30pm in Room 1 of the .Community <br />Activities Building, 1400 Roosevelt Avenue, Redwood City, California. <br /> <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> <br />The following corrections were made to the June minutes: (1) Under Oral <br />Communications, last sentence of last paragraph should read, " Commissioner <br />Davis asked if staff could contact the Police Chief regarding the status of this <br />matter and ask Chief Bolanos to respond back to the Commission"; (2) Under <br />Item 1, the vote for the motion should read uYes-5, No-1; (3) The motion under <br />Item 2 should read, "That the City Council be informed that the Park and <br />Recreation Commission is interested in establishing a dog exercise area, and to <br />direct staff to make the necessary efforts to acquire the Marina A property, and <br />then take to the next step in the process". The minutes of the June meeting <br />were approved as corrected. <br /> <br />CORRESPONDENCE <br /> <br />An invitation was received to attend a workshop on Saturday, October 18 at the <br />Joaquin Miller Community Center sponsored by the Bay Area Park and <br />Recreation Commissioners' and Board Members' Council. Cost is $40.00 per <br />person and copies of the flyer wilt be mailed to each Commissioner. <br /> <br />ORAL COMMUNICATIONS <br /> <br />Stacy Stumes announced she has formed the "Friends of Maddux Park" in an <br />effort to speed up the process of getting Maddux Park refurbished. She stated <br />that Maddux is due to have play equipment replacement in FY 2000-2001 and <br />she would like to this occur sooner by enlisting community support and providing <br /> <br />, <br />
