<br />04/24/2006 <br /> <br />ORIGINAL <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 14709 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PENINSULA TRAFFIC CONGESTION <br />RELIEF ALLIANCE AND THE SAN MATEO COUNTY <br />TRANSPORTATION DEMAND MANAGEMENT AGENCY TO SUBMIT A <br />"LIFE FUNDING" GRANT APPLICATION WITH CITY/COUNTY <br />ASSOCIATION OF GOVERNMENTS OF SAN MATEO COUNTY FOR <br />OPERATION OF A COMMUNITY SHUTTLE SERVICE <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Council Member Diane Howard has engaged the Peninsula Traffic <br />Congestion Relief Alliance (the "Alliance") to bring together staff of Redwood City, the <br />Mateo County Transit District ("SamTrans") and various constituents of Redwood City to <br />identify commute alternative needs; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in the year 2005, the Redwood City Council engaged the Alliance to <br />conduct a survey of Redwood City residents to determine their level of interest in having <br />community shuttle services; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the community shuttle service survey demonstrates that nearly <br />three-fourths of the respondents would utilize community shuttle service at least two <br />days per week as long as the shuttle service is reliable, convenient and on routes <br />respondents would be interested in taking; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, a "Lifeline Funding" grant is available from the City/County <br />Association of Governments of San Mateo County ("C/CAG") for operating shuttle <br />service in Redwood City and the final date for submission of such an application is on or <br />about April 28,2006; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Redwood City Council that on behalf of the City <br />of Redwood City, the Alliance and SamTrans submit an application for a "Lifeline <br />Funding" grant with C/CAG and submit such other grant applications as may be <br />available. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />1. That on behalf of the City of Redwood City, a "Lifeline Funding" grant be <br />submitted by the Alliance and SamTrans and that said agencies seek and submit <br />applications for such other grant funding as may be available for the purpose of <br />operating community shuttle service within Redwood City. <br /> <br />* * * <br /> <br />Atty/Reso/Reso.1612 <br />041806 <br /> <br />14709 <br />Muff # 205 <br />
