Sibley <br /> <br />STAFF PRESENT: <br /> <br />Parks, Recreation and Community Services <br />Director Griffiths and Secretary Nemes <br /> <br />" <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Park and Recreation Commission was called to <br />order at 7:30 p.m. by Chairperson Howard in Room 5, Community Activities <br />Building, 1400 Roosevelt AVenue~ Redwood City, CA. <br /> <br />Correspondence <br /> <br />Director Griffiths stated that there was no correspondence. <br /> <br />Approval of Minutes <br /> <br />The minutes of the April Park and Recreation Commission meeting were <br />approved as amended with the following change. <br /> <br />Item I Parcourse - Redwood Shores, first paragraph, page 2 should read: <br />Commissioner Slusser moved that the Commission r~gue~t the Department <br />of Parks and Recreation to review all eighteen (18) Parcourse stations <br />assessing both the safety/liability factors and the yearly maintenance <br />figures.. <br /> <br />ITEM - 1 MEMORIAL TREES - Don Davis and Jerry Mortensen <br /> <br />',' <br /> <br />" <br />,,' <br /> <br />Commissioners Davis and Mortensen distributed a packet of background <br />materials that influenced their recommendation against establishing a <br />formal Memorial Tree Program. Commissioner Davis reiterated their <br />recommendations. 1) Request the' City Attorney to draw up a standard <br />agreement to address the maintenance and liability issues to protect both <br />parties. 2) Establish a minimum donation policy of $500.00 subject to <br />periodic review by the Commission. 3) The Director establish a gift <br />guide/shopping list consistent with park development/renewal for <br />philanthropic donations. In response to Chairperson Howard~s inquiry <br />regarding a current donation, Director Griffiths stated that the cost of a <br />plaque is $125.00, the installation is $75.00 and the remainder of the <br />$500.00 would be placed in an interest bearing account to be used toward <br />items on the gift guide. The Commission requested, by a unanimous voice <br />vote, that the Director implement the aforementioned recommendations, and <br />that this policy be made available for future donations. <br />
