<br />PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br /> <br />MINUTES OF WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 23, 2006 <br /> <br />COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chairperson Slusser, Commissioners Sargent, <br />Truscelli, White, Wright <br /> <br />COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: Commissioners Joseph and Swope <br /> <br />GUESTS: Mrs. Elizabeth Travers <br /> <br />STAFF PRESENT: Director Corinne Centeno, Superintendents Chris Beth and Gary <br />Hover <br /> <br />Chairperson Bob Slusser called the regular meeting of the Park and Recreation <br />Commission to order at 7:30pm in Room 1 of the Community Activities Building, 1400 <br />Roosevelt Ave., Redwood City, California. <br /> <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> <br />The minutes of the July meeting were approved as mailed. The minutes of the May <br />meeting were also approved as mailed. <br /> <br />CORRESPONDENCE <br /> <br />None <br /> <br />ITEM 1 - PARK RULES AND REGULATIONS <br /> <br />Superintendent Hover explained the chronology and process for reviewing the current <br />park rules and regulations as well as the proposed changes that both staff and <br />Commission have offered. Superintendent Hover included points listed in the memo by <br />Director Centeno to the Commission for the 8/23/06 meeting, including the summary of <br />staff meeting with the Park Rules Sub-Committee consisting of Commissioners Joseph, <br />Morton and White. <br /> <br />Superintendent Hover also explained these recommendations were sent to the City <br />Attorney's Office for review and only some minor structure revisions were needed. <br />Superintendent Hover also wanted to highlight one more addition in the memo by <br />Director Centeno regarding non-smoking in any City park, and asked the Commission if <br />they would like to discuss this as well. <br /> <br />Chairperson Slusser opened up the meeting for public comment. <br />
