J <br /> <br />THE REDWOOD CITY-SAN MATEO COUNTY CHAMBER OF COMMERCE PRESENTATION OF <br />ITS "1989 PERSON OF THE YEAR AWARD" <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Redwood City-San Mateo County Chamber of Commerce <br />is presenting its "1989 Person of the Year Award" to Stanley A. <br /> <br />Kangas; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, this award is also called the President's Award because <br /> <br />it recognizes the one person who, more than anyone else, has made the <br />greatest impact on the success of a President's year; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Stanley A. Kangas, President and Principal in the <br /> <br />engineering firm Brian Kangas Foulk, receives this award for the <br />second time in four years, and is deserving of special recognition <br /> <br />and public praise; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Stan chaired our 3rd Annual <br /> <br />Ray <br /> <br />Wersching <br /> <br />Benefit/Celebrity golf Tournament for the third time, which over its <br /> <br />three year history has contributed over $25,000 to local charities <br /> <br />and an equal amount to our Chamber of Commerce; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Stan accepted the chairmanship of the first ever "Big <br />Game" Corporate Challenge Membership Drive, and not only agreed to <br />appear in full Stanford Football uniform, but also to appear with <br />Stanford Band and the "Dollies" during the kick-off celebration; <br /> <br />and; <br /> <br />WHEREAS, he continued the drive effort following the October <br />17th earthquake with 5% of drive proceeds going to the Watsonvi11e <br /> <br />Chamber of Commerce for earthquake relief; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Stanley A. Kangas is a person who sincerely cares about <br />other people, and about making our community one in which we can all <br /> <br />be proud; <br />
