<br />DES:djk "1/04/89 (019/24) <br /> <br />JAN 1 6 1989 <br /> <br />RES 0 L UTI 0 N <br /> <br />N o. 1 0 963 <br /> <br />ORIGINAL <br /> <br />RESOLUTION SUPPORTING POLICY TO COORDINATE CITY CHILD <br />DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITIES AND APPROVING AND AUTHORIZ ING <br />EXECUTION OF APPLICATION TO THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF <br />EDUCATION FOR A GRANT IN FURTHERANCE OF SAID POLICY <br /> <br />WHEREAS, this Council has determined that there is a great <br /> <br />need for high quality child development services and facilities <br /> <br />in the City of Redwood City; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Redwood City has encouraged and <br /> <br />established programs for the provision of child development <br /> <br />services to address the foregoing need as evidenced by the City's <br /> <br />own child care program, the participation of this City in the <br /> <br />Redwood City Consortium for School Age Child Care, and the <br /> <br />activities of this Council's Child Care Committee; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the State Department of Education has announced the <br /> <br />availability of funds for grants to cities and counties for <br /> <br />planning and coordinating activities within local governmental <br /> <br />agencies to facilitate the availability of child development <br /> <br />services; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, this Council recognizes that planning for child <br /> <br />development must be part of a total planning effort for our City; <br /> <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the development of a child development policy <br /> <br />focusing upon coordination among City departments and other <br /> <br />community services would facilitate the establishment and <br /> <br />operation of child development services in the City of Redwood <br /> <br />City; and <br /> <br />10963 <br />
