01/12/2009 ORIGINAL RESOLUTION NO. 14918 RESOLUTION AMENDING THE REDWOOD CITY POLICE BUDGET FOR FISCAL YEAR 2008 -2009 PATROL SERVICES SUB - PROGRAM BUDGET TO INCLUDE GRANT FUNDS IN THE AMOUNT OF $10,000 FOR ABANDONED WATERCRAFT ABATEMENT GRANT FUND PROGRAM WHEREAS, during the course of a fiscal year, the City Council may take actions that change or modify the City's existing and approved budgets; and WHEREAS, grants are received during the course of the fiscal year which were not anticipated when the City's budget was first approved; and WHEREAS, the Police Department was awarded a grant in the amount of $10,000 from the California Department of Boating and Waterways (CDBW) for the removal and disposal of abandoned, wrecked, or dismantled watercraft, which pose a substantial hazard to navigation in Redwood City Waterways; and WHEREAS, the City will be reimbursed, an amount not to exceed $10,000, for the costs associated with the abatement of abandoned watercraft; and WHEREAS, funds to be reimbursed must be used by June 30, 2009; and WHEREAS, in addition to the grant awarded by the Department of Boating and Waterways, the Police Department is required to match the funds by a 10- percent contribution; and WHEREAS, the 10- percent matching fund requirement will be absorbed in the Police Department's existing 2008 -2009 budget. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY AS FOLLOWS: 1. The recitals set forth above are true and correct and are hereby incorporated by this reference as it fully set forth in their entirety. 2. The Finance Director shall amend the Fiscal Year 2008/09 Police Department Patrol Services Sub - Program Budget to appropriate $10,000 from the General Fund for the Removal of Abandoned Watercraft which will subsequently be reimbursed to the General Fund by the California Department of Boating and Waterways after June 30, 2008.
