01/12/2009 <br />ORIGINAL <br />RESOLUTION NO. 14918 <br />RESOLUTION AMENDING THE REDWOOD CITY POLICE BUDGET FOR FISCAL <br />YEAR 2008 -2009 PATROL SERVICES SUB - PROGRAM BUDGET TO INCLUDE <br />GRANT FUNDS IN THE AMOUNT OF $10,000 FOR ABANDONED WATERCRAFT <br />ABATEMENT GRANT FUND PROGRAM <br />WHEREAS, during the course of a fiscal year, the City Council may take actions that change <br />or modify the City's existing and approved budgets; and <br />WHEREAS, grants are received during the course of the fiscal year which were not anticipated <br />when the City's budget was first approved; and <br />WHEREAS, the Police Department was awarded a grant in the amount of $10,000 from the <br />California Department of Boating and Waterways (CDBW) for the removal and disposal of <br />abandoned, wrecked, or dismantled watercraft, which pose a substantial hazard to navigation in <br />Redwood City Waterways; and <br />WHEREAS, the City will be reimbursed, an amount not to exceed $10,000, for the costs <br />associated with the abatement of abandoned watercraft; and <br />WHEREAS, funds to be reimbursed must be used by June 30, 2009; and <br />WHEREAS, in addition to the grant awarded by the Department of Boating and Waterways, <br />the Police Department is required to match the funds by a 10- percent contribution; and <br />WHEREAS, the 10- percent matching fund requirement will be absorbed in the Police <br />Department's existing 2008 -2009 budget. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />REDWOOD CITY AS FOLLOWS: <br />1. The recitals set forth above are true and correct and are hereby incorporated by this <br />reference as it fully set forth in their entirety. <br />2. The Finance Director shall amend the Fiscal Year 2008/09 Police Department Patrol <br />Services Sub - Program Budget to appropriate $10,000 from the General Fund for the <br />Removal of Abandoned Watercraft which will subsequently be reimbursed to the General <br />Fund by the California Department of Boating and Waterways after June 30, 2008. <br />ATTY /RES0/RESO.1880 14918 <br />121608 MUFF # 505 <br />
