03/09/2009 <br />ORIGINAL <br />RESOLUTION NO. 14924 <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING APPLICATION FOR <br />ELIGIBILITY FOR PARTICIPATION IN THE FEDERAL <br />AND STATE SURPLUS PROPERTY PROGRAM AND <br />DESIGNATING CERTAIN CITY EMPLOYEES AS CITY <br />REPRESENTATIVES TO ACQUIRE SURPLUS <br />PROPERTY <br />WHEREAS, from time to time, Federal and State property may be declared <br />surplus under the State's Department of General Services Federal and State surplus <br />personal property program which may be of value to the City of Redwood City; and <br />WHEREAS, the Department of General Services (the "Department ") may offer <br />surplus property to the City when its application remains on file and stipulates that <br />certain personnel are eligible to participate in the surplus personal property program; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, enhanced Homeland Security requirements and available <br />government resources for emergency response equipment have led to an increase in <br />the quantity of surplus equipment available for purchase which could benefit the City's <br />Fire Department; and <br />WHEREAS, the City's Fire Department has had an application on file with the <br />State to participate in this program for a number of years; and <br />WHEREAS, in order for the City of Redwood City to renew its application for <br />participation in said program, a resolution must be adopted by the City Council which <br />authorizes the application for eligibility to participate in said program and which <br />designates certain City employees as its representatives. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT: <br />F:Atty /Reso /Reso.1890 Reso 14924 <br />Formerly Muff # 705 <br />
