RESOLUTION NO. 15947 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD <br />CITY APPROPRIATING $280,000 FROM THE GENERAL FUND TO <br />SUPPLEMENT THE RESTAURANT, BREWERY, AND WINERY PROGRAM <br />TO SUPPORT REDWOOD CITY RESTAURANT RELIEF EFFORTS <br />WHEREAS, at the January 26, 2021 San Mateo County Board of Supervisors <br />Meeting, the Supervisors approved $1,000,000 to fund the Restaurant, Brewery, and Winery <br />Program (Program) under the San Mateo County (SMC) Strong Fund initiatives; and <br />WHEREAS, local businesses in the food and beverage industry impacted by COVID- <br />19 have been disproportionally affected, and awarding grant assistance up to $10,000 <br />directly to local, non -corporate restaurants to assist them during this economic crisis is <br />reasonable; and <br />WHEREAS, a total of sixty-four (64) applications were received by SMC Strong from <br />Redwood City restaurants for the Program, and of the sixty-four (64) applications, thirty-six <br />(36) were funded, with a balance of twenty-eight (28) remaining restaurants that were not <br />funded; and <br />WHEREAS, there is a need of $280,000 to supplement the remaining eligible <br />Redwood City restaurants in the Program; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council now desires to contribute $280,000 to the Program to <br />support Redwood City restaurant relief efforts due to COVID-19. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />REDWOOD CITY AS FOLLOWS: <br />Section 1. The foregoing recitals are true and correct, are hereby incorporated herein <br />by this reference as if fully set forth in their entirety, and constitute findings in this matter. <br />Section 2. The City Council hereby appropriates $280,000 from the General Fund to <br />contribute to the Restaurant, Brewery, & Winery Program to support Redwood City restaurant <br />relief efforts due to COVID-19. <br />Section 3.
