ATTY/RESO.0014/HRAC RESO RECOMMENDING APPROVAL OF ARC PERMIT – 935 DURLSTON ROAD
REV: 04-01-2021 PR
RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION OF THE HISTORIC RESOURCES ADVISORY
COMMITTEE OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY RECOMMENDING
APPROVAL OF ARCHITECTURAL PERMIT NO. 2019-070 FOR 935
DURLSTON ROAD IN ACCORDANCE WITH CHAPTER 40 OF THE
REDWOOD CITY CODE
WHEREAS, Applicant, Jerry Winges (applicant), on behalf of property owner Erin
Murphy (Property Owner), has applied for an Architectural Permit to construct a 58
square foot ground floor addition and 414 square foot second story addition to the
existing two story single family residence located at 935 Durlston Road; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Chapter 40 of the Redwood City Code (Historic
Preservation Ordinance), the Historic Resources Advisory Committee (HRAC) shall
review any application to tear down, demolish, construct, alter, remove or relocate any
improvement, or any portion thereof, which has been designated a historic landmark or
is within a historic district; and
WHEREAS, the City of Redwood City (City) has received a historic evaluation
that concludes that the single family residence located at 935 Durlston Road meets
Criterion C for designation as an historic landmark according to the historic designation
criteria established by the Redwood City Historic Preservation Ordinance (Chapter 40 of
the Redwood City Code). The proposed development would not create significant
adverse changes to the architectural style of the historic resource on site; and
WHEREAS, on March 24, 2021 a public hearing notice of the Planning
Commission hearing was published in the San Mateo Daily Journal and sent to the
Property Owner; and
WHEREAS, on April 8, 2021 the HRAC conducted a duly-noticed public hearing
in accordance with all applicable requirements of State Law to review the permit
application and support material.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HISTORIC RESOURCES
ADVISORY COMMITTEE OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The HRAC hereby finds that the proposed addition, as designed, is
harmonious with and will not adversely impact the character of the existing single-family
residence.
Section 2. The HRAC hereby recommends that the Planning Commission
approve the Architectural Permit No. 2019-070 for 935 Durlston Road consistent with
Chapter 40 (Historic Preservation) of the Redwood City Code.
Section 3. This resolution is effective upon its adoption.
* * *
