ATTY/RESO.0015/CC RESO AMENDING CLASSIFICATION, SALARY, AND WAGE PLAN (SEIU) <br />REV: 02-27-25 MI <br />Page 1 of 2 <br />RESOLUTION NO. 16284 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD <br />CITY AMENDING THE CITY’S CLASSIFICATION AND SALARY AND <br />WAGE PLAN TO UPDATE SALARY RANGES FOR ALL <br />CLASSIFICATIONS REPRESENTED BY SERVICE EMPLOYEES <br />INTERNATIONAL UNION LOCAL 521, UPDATE THE SALARY RANGES <br />FOR CERTAIN CLASSIFICATIONS IN COMPLIANCE WITH CITY’S <br />MINIMUM WAGE ORDINANCE, AND AMEND THE JOB DESCRIPTIONS <br />FOR BUILDING INSPECTOR AND PERMITS TECHNICIAN <br />WHEREAS, the City and the Service Employees International Union Local 521 <br />(SEIU) have reached agreement on a Successor Memorandum of Understanding for the <br />period of February 1, 2025 through January 23, 2028; and <br />WHEREAS, the parties agreed to a 3% cost-of-living adjustment effective <br />February 10, 2025, a 3% cost-of-living adjustment effective February 9, 2026 as listed in <br />Exhibit A-1 and A-2, a 3% cost-of-living adjustment effective February 8, 2027, and <br />applicable equity adjustment up to 1% maximum per classification effective February 8, <br />2027 or the first full pay period following completion of the meet and confer process over <br />total compensation study results, whichever is later; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council previously adopted an Ordinance that provides for an <br />increase in the City of Redwood City minimum wage based on the Consumer Price Index <br />effective January 1st, with minimum wage for certain City of Redwood City classifications <br />being increased effective January 1, 2025, from $17.70 to $18.20 per hour as listed in <br />Exhibit B; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Manager has requested that the job descriptions of Building <br />Inspector and Permits Technician be amended to meet the current and future operational <br />needs for the City; and <br />WHEREAS, the classification specifications as described in Exhibit D were <br />prepared by Human Resources staff in consultation with department management, to <br />ensure the foreseeable needs of the organization were met; and <br />WHEREAS, Human Resources staff met and conferred with SEIU, and reached <br />agreement on the proposed job description changes for Building Inspector and Permits <br />Technician as described in Exhibit D. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />REDWOOD CITY AS FOLLOWS: <br />1.The recitals set forth above are true and correct and are hereby <br />incorporated by this reference as if fully set forth in their entirety.
