V)rodamation <br />Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Awareness Week <br />March 9-15,2025 <br />WHEREAS, Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a chronic disease of the central nervous system that affects <br />millions of people worldwide, causing a range of symptoms including physical and cognitive <br />disabilities, impacting the quality of life of individuals and their families; and <br />WHEREAS, MS affects people of all ages, races, and backgrounds, and its exact cause remains <br />unknown, with current research aiming to improve treatment options and find a cure for this <br />debilitating disease; and <br />WHEREAS, individuals with MS, as well as their families, caregivers, and medical professionals, <br />demonstrate incredible strength and resilience in the face of this disease, and it is essential to support <br />and raise awareness for MS in order to foster understanding and compassion within our communities; <br />and <br />-WHEREAS, MS Awareness Week provides an opportunity to bring attention to the struggles faced by <br />those living with MS, to promote research efforts, and to increase public awareness about the disease <br />and the need for accessible treatments and resources for those impacted by MS; and <br />WHEREAS, during MS Awareness Week, a key focus is on promoting early diagnosis of MS by <br />educating people about the potential early symptoms, encouraging individuals to seek medical <br />attention if they experience concerning signs, and highlighting the importance of timely diagnosis to <br />begin treatment for the best possible outcome; and <br />WHEREAS, communities across the nation are united in supporting efforts to enhance the lives of <br />those living with MS through education, advocacy, and fundraising to support continued research and <br />efforts to combat the disease. <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT I, ELMER MARTINEZ SABALL OS, MAYOR <br />OF REDWOOD CITY, on behalf of the City Council and the people of the City of Redwood City, do <br />hereby proclaim the week of March 9-15, 2025, as Multiple Sclerosis Awareness Week in Redwood <br />City and urge all community members to stand in solidarity, collective action, and hope with those <br />with MS to have greater access to resources and support systems. <br />Date: March 10, 2025 Elmer Marfinaz Saballos, Mayor <br />Kaia Eakin, Vice Mayor <br />Isabella Chu, Council Member <br />Jeff Gee, Camrcil Member• <br />Diane Howard, Council Member <br />arta a a l a, Comwil Afm,ber <br />r <br />Clnis Shrrkerr, Council Member <br />
