V)r0damation <br />Week of the Young Child <br />April 5 - 11, 2025 <br />WHEREAS, the San Mateo Association of Education of Young Children proclaims April 51h through April I1 `h to <br />be the Week of the Young Child; and <br />WHEREAS, the San Mateo Association of Education of Young Children is a community group dedicated to <br />advocating for high-quality early childhood services for all children and families within our community; and <br />WHEREAS, every child needs community, religious, business and political leaders to support the needs ofyoung <br />children in the community. With community support we can best ensure that all young children enjoy an early <br />childhood that prepares them to take full advantage of their educational opportunities and to become effective <br />citizens, capable workers, and loving parents of the next generation; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Redwood City strives to make our community and state a better place for young children <br />and families by developing strategies for improving the quality of life for our young children within our <br />community; and <br />WHEREAS, Children and Youth is one of Redwood City's top strategic priorities, bringing it to the forefront of <br />policy decision making to ensure a healthier, happier environment for generations to come; and <br />WHEREAS, for over 50 years, the Child Care Coordinating Council (4C's) has been a local champion in <br />supporting parents, providers, and our local community in finding, planning for, paying for, and accessing <br />affordable, quality child care and many other family resources. Their mission is to connect and empower families, <br />educators, and child care providers with resources today for a stronger San Mateo County tomorrow. <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOL VED THAT I, ELMER MARTINEZ SABALL OS, MAYOR OF <br />REDWOOD CITY, on behalf of the City Council and the people of Redwood City, do hereby proclaim <br />April 5 —11, 2025 as the Week of the Young Child in Redwood City and urge all citizens to recognize <br />and support the needs ofyoung children in our community. <br />Date: April 5, 2025 <br />ElmerMarlinezSaballos, Mayor <br />Kaia EEaakin, Vice Mayor <br />Isabella Chu, Council Member <br />Jeff Gee, Council Member <br />Diane Howard, Council Member <br />Marcella Padilla, Council Member <br />Chris Sturlam, Council Member <br />
