7g)rodamattofl <br />Arab American Heritage Month <br />April 2025 <br />WHEREAS, Arab American Heritage Month is a nationwide celebration and observance that honors the <br />achievements ofArab Americans and recognizes their significant cultural and economic contributions; and <br />WHEREAS, for over a century, Arab Americans have shared their rich heritage, culture and traditions <br />while serving in a wide range of industries and professions which have created vital and positive impacts <br />on our diverse communities; and <br />WHEREAS, in Redwood City, we value the strength in our diversity and embrace our Arab residents and <br />merchants that consistently contribute to our quality of life, economy and vitality; and <br />WHEREAS, our Arab immigrant and interfaith populations around the nation continue to face <br />discriminations, harmful stereotypes and bullying, and Redwood City's commitment to leading the way <br />towards justice and fighting alongside one another remains stronger than ever; and <br />WHEREAS, Arab Americans continue to uplift our community as innovators, entrepreneurs, public <br />servants, advocates and workers who contribute to numerous community-based and cultural organizations <br />that serve all of our communities and neighborhoods; and <br />WHEREAS, Redwood City values the Arab community's significant impact on the prosperity of our <br />community, and remains committed to our guiding principle of Equity to ensure inclusion, diversity, <br />compassion and respect for Arab Americans in Redwood City and across the region. <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT I, ELMER MARTINEZ SABALLOS, MAYOR OF <br />REDWOOD CITY, on behalf of the City Council and the people of the City of Redwood City, do hereby <br />proclaim April 2025 as Arab American Heritage Month and implore all community members to join us in <br />this special observance. <br />Date: April 14, 2025 <br />ElmerMar•rive-, Saballos, .favor <br />Kaia Rahn, Vice Mayor <br />Isabella, Chu, OwincilMernber <br />Ja�C�ae, Cpuncil Member <br />Diana Howard, Cautreil M®mbar <br />Marcalla Padilla, Council Mamber• <br />��r <br />Chris Sturkot, Council Member <br />
