proclamation <br />Honoring Alicia Aguirre <br />Woman of The Year <br />WHEREAS, Alicia Aguirre has been named Chamber San Mateo County's 2025 Woman of the <br />Year; and <br />WHEREAS, Alicia has served as the City of Redwood City's Mayor, Vice Mayor, and Council <br />Member for 21 Years; and <br />WHEREAS, Alicia has served as a Trustee and President of the Redwood City Elementary School <br />Board; and <br />WHEREAS, Alicia is passionate about education, working as a professor at Canada College for <br />more than two decades. Outside of her work as a professor she also makes time to empower others <br />through education in the community; and <br />WHEREAS, Alicia has served as the President of the California Latino Caucus and; <br />WHEREAS, Alicia is a Chamber San Mateo County Leadership Graduate class of 1991; and <br />WHEREAS, during the Covid-19 pandemic, Alicia focused on keeping residents and business <br />owners informed about County and State health orders; safely providing city services and funding <br />for emergency rental assistance; supporting safe outdoor business operations; and ensuring local <br />hospitals were prepared for an evolving disease; and <br />WHEREAS, Alicia's longstanding dedication, deep compassion, and profound connection with <br />every segment of the community deserve the highest honor in receiving this year's Woman of the <br />Year Award. <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT I, ELMER MARTINEZ SABALLOS, <br />MAYOR OF REDWOOD CITY, on behalf of the City Council and the people of the City of <br />Redwood City, do hereby congratulate and celebrate Redwood City's own Alicia Aguirre in <br />receiving this honorable recognition as the Chamber San Mateo County's 2025 Woman of the <br />Year. <br />Date: February 27, 2025 <br />Elmer Martinez Saballos, Mayor <br />Kaia Eakin, Vice Mayor <br />"—I <br />Isabella Chu, Council Member <br />JgffG.e, C.-cil Mempber <br />Diane Howard, Council Member <br />Marcella Padilla, Council Member <br />Chris Sturken, Council Member <br />
