V40damation <br />In Honor of Arbor Day in Redwood City <br />April 19, 2025 <br />WHEREAS, April 19 has been designated as Redwood City Arbor Day; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Redwood City and CityTrees are participating in a tree planting event; and <br />WHEREAS, throughout the year the City of Redwood City and CityTrees work cooperatively to plant, <br />prune and care for trees; and <br />WHEREAS, in 2000 CityTrees was founded with a mission to improve the quality of life in Redwood <br />City through a coordinated program of education, outreach, and advocacy for tree planting, <br />maintenance and support; and <br />WHEREAS, in 2024 CityTrees commemorated their 4, 0001h tree planted in the greater Redwood City <br />area; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Redwood City has been designated a Tree City USA for the forty-second (42nd) <br />consecutive year by the National Arbor Day Foundation; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Redwood City believes in the value and preservation of trees and funds a tree <br />maintenance program for publicly -owned trees and administers a tree preservation ordinance to protect <br />privately -owned trees to ensure a legacy of mature trees within the community; and <br />WHEREAS, the entire City benefits when any property owner, resident, or volunteer gains awareness <br />about trees, and improves their property and the community by planting and maintaining trees and <br />landscapes, which promotes a healthy environment and demonstrates pride in their city. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOL VED, THAT I, ELMER MARTINEZ SABALLOS, MA YOR OF <br />REDWOOD CITY, on behalf of the City Council, do hereby proclaim April 19, 2025 as ARBOR DAY <br />INRED WOOD CITY, and encourage all residents and businesses to join together, plant trees, maintain <br />their existing trees, celebrate Arbor Day, and make our City a cleaner, greener City. <br />Date: April 19, 2025 <br />Elmer Martinez Saballos, MAYOR <br />
