proclamation <br />Public Service Recognition Week <br />May 4 —10, 2025 <br />WHEREAS, Public Service Recognition Week (PSRW) is an annual observance dedicated to honoring the <br />hard work and commitment of those who serve our communities as government employees; and <br />WHEREAS, public service is a noble calling that requires dedication, integrity, high ethical standards, <br />personal sacrifice; and <br />WHEREAS, at all levels of government, public employees take not only jobs, but take oaths to uphold the <br />Constitution of the United States; and <br />WHEREAS, career civil servants carry out the most fundamental purpose ofgovernrnent—to ensure public <br />safety, deliver essential services, and represent the public interest in addressing complex social, economic <br />and political challenges; and <br />WHEREAS, without public servants, continuity in providing quality public services would be impossible <br />in a democracy that regularly changes its leaders and elected officials; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Redwood City values the contributions of all public employees; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Redwood City values City employees, who are cornnritted to the City's mission to <br />build a welcoming Redwood City through collaboration, responsiveness and excellence; and <br />WHEREAS, City of Redwood City employees live their shared values of Collaboration, Excellence, <br />Integrity, Inclusion, Innovation and Service each day in service to the community; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Redwood City appreciates that leaders of our employee organizations serve an <br />important role in representing employees and supporting a strong and effective workforce; and <br />WHEREAS, the staff of the City of Redwood City consistently demonstrate selflessness, professionalism, <br />and a deep sense of duty as they work to enhance the well-being of our community and serve with pride <br />across all departments; and <br />WHEREAS, Public Service Recognition Weekprovides an opportunity to express gratitude and celebrate <br />the tireless efforts of our employees, and public employees across the country, and to acknowledge the <br />critical role they play inour democracy. <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT I, ELMER MARTINEZ SABALL OS, MAYOR OF <br />REDWOOD CITY, on behalf of the City Council and the people of the City of Redwood City, do hereby <br />recognize May 4-10, 2025 as Public Service Recognition Week in Redwood City and encourage all <br />residents to join in celebrating the achievements and contributions ofpublic servants in our city and across <br />the nation. <br />Date: April 28, 2025 <br />Elmer Martinez Saballes, Mayor <br />Kaia Eaton, Vice Mey— <br />habclla Chu, Council Member <br />�yN.rr <br />Je$VGaa, C.—IM—bar <br />Diane Howard, Council Member <br />Marcella Paddle, Council Member <br />hris Ssurken, Council Member <br />
