<br />WHEREAS, Dehoffs Key Market has been a cherished fixture in Redwood City since 1972, serving generations
<br />ofresidents with dedication, integrity, and a deep commitment to community; and
<br />WHEREAS, what began as a single neighborhood grocery grew to as many as seven stores at its height, and
<br />today continues its proud legacy at its longstanding location at the corner of Roosevelt and Upton, remaining a
<br />small, family -run business grounded in service and local values; and
<br />WHEREAS, throughout its history, Dehoffs Key Market has demonstrated an unwavering belief in supporting
<br />the Redwood City community by providing products, gift cards, services, and financial support to dozens of local
<br />organizations, including schools, sports teams, car shows, churches, the library, and numerous other community
<br />groups; and
<br />WHEREAS, Dehoffs Key Market was among the first grocery stores in the area to implement a "scrip"
<br />program, through which a percentage of sales is returned to local organizations, benefiting institutions such as
<br />Redeemer, Mount Carmel, Woodside High School, Sequoia High School, and the City of Redwood City; and
<br />WHEREAS, the Market has been a substantial supporter oflocal food drives, assembling bags ofgroceries sold
<br />at deeply discounted prices to encourage charitable giving, and has directly supported Second Harvest and
<br />Samaritan House through donations ofgoods and employee volunteer efforts, as well as student -led food drives
<br />at Menlo -Atherton High School; and
<br />WHEREAS, despite the breadth of these contributions, Chris Dehoff has consistently and humbly downplayed
<br />the Market's impact, reflecting the quiet generosity and community spirit that define both the business and the
<br />Dehofffamily; and
<br />WHEREAS, beyond its charitable efforts, Dehoffs Key Market is a place where customers are greeted by name,
<br />where long-time employees provide friendly and personal service, and where neighbors connect making it not
<br />just a grocery store, but a cornerstone of the community that helps Redwood Cityfeel like home.
<br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT I, ELMER MARTINEZ SABALLOS, MAYOR OF
<br />REDWOOD CITY, on behalf of the City Council and the people of the City of Redwood City, do hereby
<br />recognize and honor Dehoffs Key Market for its decades of service, generosity, and steadfast commitment to
<br />the well-being of our community; and
<br />BE IT FURTHER PROCLAIMED that the City of Redwood expresses its sincere gratitude to the Dehofffamily
