r Ti <br />In Honor of Public Works Services Director <br />Terence Kyaw <br />WHEREAS, Terence Kyaw began his distinguished career with the City of Redwood City in 1992 <br />at the foundational level, literally and figuratively working from the ground floor up; and through <br />decades of hard work, grit, and an unparalleled mastery of city operations, rose through the ranks <br />to lead the department as Director in 2018, embodying the very best of public service and <br />professional growth; and <br />WHEREAS, through years of dedicated service and transparent communication, Terence earned <br />the deep respect and affection of our residents, becoming a beloved figure known as much for his <br />approachability and character as for his technical expertise; and <br />WHEREAS, Terence consistently practiced exemplary fiscal responsibility, managing complex <br />budgets and multi-million dollar capital projects with a keen eye for efficiency, ensuring that <br />taxpayer dollars were utilized to provide the greatest possible value and lasting benefit to the <br />community; and <br />WHEREAS, his deep understanding of the City's history has made him an indispensable resource, <br />offering the essential "how" and "why" behind past decisions and future goals and providing the <br />vital context and institutional memory upon which colleagues and councilmembers have come to <br />rely; and <br />WHEREAS, Terence served as a distinguished representative of the City across numerous regional <br />boards, committees, and Joint Powers Authorities, building vital inter -agency partnerships and <br />advocating tirelessly for the City's interests and long-term regional growth; and <br />WHEREAS, during the unprecedented challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, Terence provided <br />steady and unwavering leadership, ensuring the continuity of essential city infrastructure and the <br />safety of both the public and the frontline workforce; and <br />WHEREAS, his legacy is defined not only by the city infrastructure he built and maintained but <br />by the people he built up, having mentored and guided countless employees toward successful, <br />impactful careers through a commitment to professional development and a culture of excellence; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, Terences infectious positive attitude and constant smile have served as a source of <br />daily inspiration, contributing immensely to the spirit of our community and to his efforts to make <br />Redwood City the second happiest place on earth; and <br />WHEREAS, Terence Kyaw will be greatly missed by the City of Redwood City, its residents, and <br />his many colleagues and friends. <br />NOW THEREFORE, BEITRESOLVED THAT I, ELMER MAR TINEZSABALLOS, MAYOR <br />OF REDWOOD CITY, on behalf of the City Council and the people of the City of Redwood City, <br />hereby honor and commend Terence Kyaw for his outstanding service, leadership, and enduring <br />contributions to the community, and extends its deepest gratitude and best wishes for a well-earned <br />and fulfilling retirement. <br />Date: April 27, <br />Elmer Martinez Saballos, Mayor <br />KaO E4 k;,..
