<br />ORDINANCE NO. 2245 <br /> <br />ORDINANCE AMENDING ARTICLES II AND III OF CHAPTER I <br />OF THE REDWOOD CITY MUNICIPAL CODE PROVIDING FOR <br />ADMINISTRATIVE CODE ENFORCEMENT <br /> <br />THE CITY COUNCil OF REDWOOD CITY DOES HEREBY ORDAIN AS <br />FOllOWS: <br /> <br />Section 1. FindinQs. <br /> <br />A. <br /> <br />Enforcement of the Municipal Code is vital to the protection of the public's <br /> <br />health, safety and quality of life. <br /> <br />B. <br /> <br />The City Council of the City of Redwood City recognizes that successful <br /> <br />code enforcement starts with the drafting of precise regulations that can be effectively <br /> <br />applied in administrative enforcement hearings and judicial proceedings. <br /> <br />C. <br /> <br />A comprehensive code enforcement system that uses a combination of <br /> <br />judicial and administrative remedies is critical to gain compliance with code regulations. <br /> <br />D. <br /> <br />The public interest requires the availability of administrative methods for <br /> <br />enforcement of the requirements of this code as an alternative to either criminal or civil <br /> <br />proceedings within the court system. <br /> <br />E. <br /> <br />Administrative citations and administrative compliance hearing processes <br /> <br />afford relatively informal, inexpensive, expeditious, and appropriate procedures for <br /> <br />dispute resolutions involving matters of local concern. <br /> <br />F. <br /> <br />The public interest requires the capability to impose administrative <br /> <br />penalties authorized under California Government Code section 53069.4 to supplement <br /> <br />existing enforcement tools. <br /> <br />F:Atty/Ord/Ord.157.1 <br />052303 <br />
