RD-00-59 <br /> RESOLUTION OF THE REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY OF THE CITY <br /> OF REDWOOD CITY APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING <br /> EXECUTION OF AGREEMENT FOR DISBURSEMENT OF FUNDS TO <br />- THE SAN MATEO COUNTY HISTORICAL ASSOCIATION FOR <br /> ASSISTANCE IN RESTORATION OF THE HISTORIC COUNTY <br /> COURTHOUSE <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the San Mateo County Historical Association ("Association") <br /> is accredited by the American Association of Museums; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Association manages and operates the San Mateo County <br /> Historical Museum ("Museum"); and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Association, in cooperation with a group of private citizens of <br /> Redwood City, desires to assess the cost of demolition of the Courthouse annex <br /> and the preparation of architectural plans for the re-creation of a park/plaza, to <br /> develop a funding strategy for said restoration, and, if feasible, undertake design <br /> of such park/plaza (the "Project"); and <br /> <br /> Whereas, the Project is included within the San Mateo County Facilities <br /> Plan, which Plan has been reviewed and supported by the City Council of the <br /> City of Redwood City; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Agency is committed to revitalization of the downtown area <br /> in furtherance of the objectives of its adopted Redevelopment Plan; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Association has requested that the Agency provide it $15,000 <br /> in financial assistance as "seed money" f~r the Project and represented that <br /> private individual have committed to match such seed money with contributions <br /> to the Project totaling at least $10,000; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Agency has reviewed said request and determined that <br /> Agency's limited financial support of the Project will further Redevelopment <br /> Agency objectives; and <br /> <br /> <br />
