MINUTE ORDER

CITY COUNCIL MEETING

January 30, 1995
MO. 95-025
CITY CLERK DEPARTMENT
Redwood City

DATE: February 1, 1995

Attention: City Manager
City Attorney
Community Development Director
Housing Coordinator

SUBJECT: Appointment to the Newly Constituted Housing and Human Concerns Committee
(209)

Meeting of the Council of the City of Redwood City on January 30, 1995.

Present: Councilmembers Buchan, Hartnett, Howard, La Berge, Sanfilipo, Steinfeld
and Mayor Gasparini

Absent: None

The following motion was made and entered on the Minutes:

Appointment to the newly constituted Housing and Human Concerns
Committee for nine, four-year, staggered terms, commencing with initial limits
of two, three and four years.

City Clerk Jorgenson presented the staff report and offered options for Council
to use in voting for so many candidates at one time. StarTs recommendation at
the Council meeting of December 5, 1994, for staggered terms was as follows:
former members to be given the longer terms with four members receiving 4-
year teams, three members to receive 3-year terms and two members receiving
2-year terms. City Clerk Jorgenson suggested that the length of service on the
former HHCC be used as a criterion for the longer 4-year terms, new members
be appointed according to votes received, and in case of a tie the appointment
would be done alphabetically. Thereafter the terms will be for four years.
