JOINT MEETING OF CITY COUNCIL AND <br /> PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br /> ANNUAL PARK TOUR <br /> MINUTES OF SATURDAY, AUGUST 29, 1998 <br /> CITY COUNCIL PRESENT: Mayor Howard, Vice Mayor Ruskin, Council <br /> Members Bain (amved 9:16am), Ira, and Leipzig <br /> (arrived 9:13am) <br /> CITY COUNCIL ABSENT: Council Members Claire, Hartnett <br /> COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Chairperson Truscelli, Commissioners Davis, <br /> Joseph, La Berge, Morton, Slusser, and <br /> Swope <br /> COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: None <br /> GUESTS PRESENT: Joseph Ira, Susie Peyton, Hilary Paulson, Bret Montague <br /> STAFF PRESENT: Superintendent Gary Hover, Secretary Denise Monroe, City <br /> Manager Ed Everett, Director Peter Griffiths, Park Manager <br /> Mike Gibbons, Senior Civil Engineer Chu Chang <br /> The special meeting of the Park and Recreation Commission and City Council <br /> was called to order by Chairperson Pauline Truscelli at 9:12am in Room 2 of the <br /> Community Activities Building, 1400 Roosevelt Avenue, Redwood City, <br /> California. There was not a quorum of the City Council at this time. <br /> ORAL COMMUNICATIONS <br /> Susie Peyton of 3691 Brandy Rock Way spoke regarding the renovation of <br /> Stulsaft and Stafford Parks and the need for fundraising efforts. She asked the <br /> Commission for their help and assistance in fundraising for this project. <br /> Chairperson Truscelli stated the Commission is giving their full support of the <br /> effort. <br /> Bret Montague of 755 Lakemead Way spoke on behalf of the Redwood City <br /> Responsible Dog Owners (RCRDO) group and the location of a dog exercise <br /> area in either Stulsaft or Garrett Park. He noted that the City Council allocated <br /> $20,000 to renovate the site at Stulsaft Park. After looking at the site at Garrett <br /> Park which is more suitable for a dog park, it will take more than $20,000 to <br /> renovate the site. Mr. Montague noted RCRDO will be looking for assistance to <br /> help with the site renovation including corporate sponsorships and in-kind <br /> donations. Chairperson Truscelli stated the Commission is in full support of the <br /> project. <br /> Mayor Diane Howard called the City Council to order at 9:20am as there was <br /> now a quorum. She thanked the speakers for their comments. <br />
