ORDINANCE N 0. .Jo// <br />AN ORDINANCE TO REGULATE AND RESTRICT THE <br />KEEPING OF BEES, DEFINING CERTAIN NUISANCES, <br />AND PROVIDING A PENALTY FOR THE VIOLATION OF <br />ITS PROVISIONS <br />The Council of Redwood City do ordain as follows: <br />SECTION 1. It is hereby declared unlawful for any person, <br />firm or corporation to keep any bees in any hive or like place, <br />unl esc the same be situated at least one hundred and fifty (150) <br />feet from any dwelling house occupied by human beings. <br />SECTION 2. It is hereby declared unlawful for any person, <br />firm or corporation to keep bees in any place in such auantities <br />as to create a source of constant annoyance or discomfort to any <br />Person. <br />SECTION 3. Within the meaning of this ordinance, a condition <br />?•*here hives of bees ^.re kept so close together and in such numbers <br />that the bees there maintained enter any inhabited dwelling in the <br />vicinity and there sting any person or interfere t,rith his comfort, <br />such person not having provided anything to attract bees, and such <br />condition continues for a period of over one (1) week, is defined, <br />found and declared to be a. nuisance, and shall be held to be the <br />keeping of bees in a place iri such auantities as to create a source <br />of constant annoyance and discomfort to a person. <br />SECTION 4. Any person, firm or corporation who violates <br />any provision of this ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a mis- <br />demeanor, and each day upon which such violation occurs or continues <br />shall be a separate offence; any person convicted of a violation <br />hereof shall be punishable by a fine of not more than three hundred <br />(300) dollars, or imprisonment in the county jail of the County of <br />San Mateo, State of California, for a period not exceeding sixty <br />(6o) days, or by both such fine and imprisonment. <br />
